Rhode Island College Women’s Gymnastics Update #1

(1-2 Overall; 1-2 in the ECAC)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Bob Nannig’s team opened the 2004-05 season at a quad-meet, hosted by MIT, on Saturday, Jan. 15. The Anchorwomen posted a team score of 173.700. RIC defeated Wilson, which posted a team score of 173.625, but fell to host MIT, which logged a team score of 179.075, and to Ursinus, which went undefeated on the day with a team score of 181.950.

Senior co-captain Caren Normandin (Fall River, MA) was the squad’s lone all-around competitor as she recorded scores of 9.250 on vault, 8.000 on bars, 9.150 on beam and 9.125 on floor for a total score of 35.525. Normandin’s score on vault was a team-high.

Senior co-captain Michaela Hogan (Warwick, RI) posted scores of 8.900 on vault and a team-high mark of 8.150 on bars.

Sophomore Melissa Jones (Cranston, RI) posted scores of 8.900 on vault and 9.050 on floor.

Sophomore Megan Joseph (Hope, RI) posted scores of 9.000 on vault, 8.400 on beam and a team-high mark of 9.425 on floor.

Junior Cristy Pforr (Pembroke, MA) posted scores of 8.600 on vault, 8.900 on beam and 9.175 on floor.

Freshman Melissa Demirjian (Warwick, RI) posted scores of 8.300 on beam and 8.750 on floor.

Sophomore Kristina Lemanis (Smithtown, NY) logged a score of 7.800 on bars.

Sophomore Hannah Scott (Deep River, CT) posted scores of 7.850 on bars and 8.300 on beam.

Sophomore Danielle Soucy (Gloucester, MA) posted scores of 8.400 on vault and 7.000 on bars.

Freshman Caitlyn Owens (Carmel, NY) posted scores of 7.600 on bars and a team-high mark of 9.175 on beam.

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at Wilson on Saturday, Jan. 22.
