Rhode Island College Women’s Gymnastics Update #3

(1-8 Overall; 1-8 in the ECAC)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Bob Nannig’s team competed at a five-team meet, hosted by SUNY Brockport, on Saturday, Jan. 29. The Anchorwomen posted a team score of 173.675 and were beaten by Springfield, 184.475, Ithaca, 185.075, Cortland, 185.950, and SUNY Brockport, 186.800.

Senior co-captain Caren Normandin (Fall River, MA) is averaging scores of 9.200 on vault, 7.600 on bars, 9.000 on beam, 9.050 on floor and 34.800 in the all-around.

Senior co-captain Michaela Hogan (Warwick, RI) is averaging scores of 9.008 on vault, 8.317 on bars and 8.550 on floor. She posted team-high scores of 9.125 on vault and 8.650 on bars at the SUNY Brockport meet.

Sophomore Melissa Jones (Cranston, RI) is averaging scores of 8.942 on vault, 6.850 on bars, 9.100 on beam, 8.633 on floor and 34.050 in the all-around. Jones competed in the all-around for the first time this season at the SUNY Brockport meet and totaled a score of 34.050.

Sophomore Megan Joseph (Hope, RI) is averaging scores of 9.000 on vault, 8.150 on beam and 9.092 on floor. She posted the team’s highest mark on floor, registering a 9.400 score, at the SUNY Brockport meet.

Junior Cristy Pforr (Pembroke, MA) is averaging scores of 8.533 on vault, 8.550 on beam and 8.750 on floor.

Freshman Melissa Demirjian (Warwick, RI) is averaging scores of 7.650 on bars, 8.133 on beam and 8.501 on floor.

Sophomore Kristina Lemanis (Smithtown, NY) is averaging a score of 7.800 on bars.

Sophomore Hannah Scott (Deep River, CT) is averaging scores of 7.475 on bars and 8.175 on beam.

Sophomore Danielle Soucy (Gloucester, MA) is averaging scores of 8.725 on vault and 7.200 on bars.

Freshman Caitlyn Owens (Carmel, NY) is averaging scores of 7.933 on bars and 8.675 on beam. She posted the team’s top beam score, registering a score of 9.400, at the SUNY Brockport meet.

Sophomore Cassie O’Blenis (Warren, RI) saw her first action of the season at the SUNY Brockport meet, registering scores of 9.025 on vault, 6.150 on bars and 8.850 on beam.

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at Div. I University of Rhode Island on Saturday, Feb. 5.
