Rhode Island College Women’s Gymnastics Update #6

(1-11 Overall; 1-9 in the ECAC)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Bob Nannig’s team is 1-11 overall and 1-9 against ECAC Div. III competition on the season. RIC traveled to M.I.T. on Saturday, Feb. 19 and lost to the Engineers, 182.250-181.125.

Senior co-captain Caren Normandin (Fall River, MA) is averaging scores of 9.071 on vault, 7.600 on bars, 9.180 on beam, 9.071 on floor and 34.800 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks on vault, beam and floor at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19, recording scores of 9.300, 9.300 and 9.400, respectively. She recorded a season high of 8.000 on bars at the M.I.T. quad-meet on Jan. 15. Normandin posted the team’s best scores on vault and floor at the M.I.T. meet, recording marks of 9.300 and 9.400, respectively.

Senior co-captain Michaela Hogan (Warwick, RI) is averaging scores of 9.013 on vault, 8.275 on bars and 8.700 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 9.125 at the SUNY-Brockport meet on Jan. 22 and at the Bridgeport meet on Feb. 13. She posted a season-high mark of 8.950 on bars at the Bridgeport meet on Feb. 13. Hogan posted a season-high mark of 9.250 on floor at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19.

Sophomore Melissa Jones (Cranston, RI) is averaging scores of 8.994 on vault, 7.675 on bars, 9.100 on beam, 8.633 on floor and 34.050 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 9.150 on vault and 8.500 on bars at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19. She posted season-high marks of 9.100 on beam and floor, respectively, at the SUNY-Brockport meet on Jan. 22.

Sophomore Megan Joseph (Hope, RI) is averaging scores of 8.888 on vault, 8.375 on beam and 9.004 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 9.075 on vault and 9.350 on beam at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19. She posted a season-high mark of 9.425 on floor at the M.I.T. quad meet on Jan. 15. Joseph posted the team’s best score on beam at the M.I.T. meet, recording a score of 9.400.

Junior Cristy Pforr (Pembroke, MA) is averaging scores of 8.588 on vault, 8.658 on beam and 8.758 on floor. She posted a season-high mark of 8.650 on vault at the SUNY Brockport meet on Jan. 22. She posted a season-high mark of 9.250 on beam at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19. Pforr posted a season-high mark of 9.175 at the M.I.T. quad meet on Jan. 15.

Freshman Melissa Demirjian (Warwick, RI) is averaging scores of 7.819 on bars, 8.190 on beam and 8.635 on floor. She posted a season-high mark of 8.250 on bars at the SUNY-Brockport meet on Jan. 22. She posted a season-high mark of 8.700 on beam at the URI meet on Feb. 5. Demirjian posted a season-high mark of 8.975 on floor against Bridgeport on Feb. 13.

Sophomore Kristina Lemanis (Smithtown, NY) is averaging a score of 7.875 on bars and 8.950 on beam. Lemanis posted season-high marks of 8.700 on bars and 8.950 on beam at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19.

Sophomore Hannah Scott (Deep River, CT) is averaging scores of 8.613 on vault, 7.760 on bars, 8.510 on beam, 8.850 on floor and 33.563 in the all-around. She posted a season-high of 8.625 on bars at the URI meet on Feb. 5. She posted season-high marks of 8.400 on bars and 9.300 on floor at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19. Scott posted season-high marks of 9.200 on beam and 34.825 in the all-around against Bridgeport on Feb. 13.

Sophomore Danielle Soucy (Gloucester, MA) is averaging scores of 8.688 on vault and 7.888 on bars. She posted season-high marks of 8.950 on beam and bars at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19.

Freshman Caitlyn Owens (Carmel, NY) is averaging scores of 7.792 on bars, 8.671 on beam and 9.000 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 8.700 on bars, 9.200 on beam and 9.000 on floor at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19.

Sophomore Cassie O’Blenis (Warren, RI) is averaging scores of 8.888 on vault, 6.200 on bars and 8.850 on beam. She posted season-high marks of 9.025 on vault and 8.850 on beam at the SUNY-Brockport meet on Jan. 22. She posted a season-high mark of 6.250 on bars at the URI meet on Feb. 5.

In upcoming action, RIC will host Div. II Southern Connecticut State University on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.
