Rhode Island College Women’s Gymnastics Update #8

(1-13 Overall; 1-10 in the ECAC)

Providence, RI—Head Coach Bob Nannig’s team is 1-13 overall and 1-10 against ECAC Div. III competition. In recent action, RIC fell to Springfield, 184.775-178.225, on Sunday, Mar. 6.

Senior co-captain Caren Normandin (Fall River, MA) is the team leader on vault, beam and floor this winter. She is averaging scores of 9.075 on vault, 7.600 on bars, 9.157 on beam, 9.166 on floor and 34.800 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks on vault and beam at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19, recording a score of 9.300 on both events. She recorded a season high of 8.000 on bars at the M.I.T. quad-meet on Jan. 15. Normandin posted a season-high mark of 9.550 on floor vs. Southern Connecticut on Feb. 27.

Sophomore Hannah Scott (Deep River, CT) is averaging scores of 8.650 on vault, 8.111 on bars, 8.564 on beam, 8.995 on floor and 34.575 in the all-around. She posted a season-high mark of 8.700 on vault vs. Springfield on Mar. 5. She recorded season-high scores of 9.000 on bars, 9.350 on floor and 35.775 in the all-around vs. Southern Connecticut on Feb. 27. She posted a season-high score of 9.000 on beam vs. M.I.T. on Feb. 19.

Sophomore Megan Joseph (Hope, RI) is averaging scores of 8.912 on vault, 8.200 on bars, 8.250 on beam and 9.018 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 9.075 on vault and 9.350 on beam at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19. She posted a season-high mark of 9.425 on floor at the M.I.T. quad meet on Jan. 15.

Junior Cristy Pforr (Pembroke, MA) is averaging scores of 8.588 on vault, 8.513 on beam and 8.834 on floor. She posted a season-high mark of 8.650 on vault at the SUNY Brockport meet on Jan. 22. She posted a season-high mark of 9.250 on beam at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19. Pforr posted a season-high mark of 9.175 on floor at the M.I.T. quad meet on Jan. 15.

Sophomore Kristina Lemanis (Smithtown, NY) is averaging a score of 8.117 on bars and 8.550 on beam. Lemanis posted season-high marks of 8.700 on bars and 8.950 on beam at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19.

Sophomore Danielle Soucy (Gloucester, MA) is averaging scores of 8.767 on vault and 8.079 on bars. Soucy recorded a season-high score of 9.100 on vault vs. Southern Connecticut on Feb. 27. She posted a season-high mark of 8.950 on bars at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19.

Sophomore Melissa Jones (Cranston, RI) is averaging scores of 9.013 on vault, 7.733 on bars, 9.100 on beam, 8.633 on floor and 34.050 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 9.150 on vault and 8.500 on bars at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19. She posted season-high marks of 9.100 on beam and floor, respectively, at the SUNY-Brockport meet on Jan. 22.

Freshman Caitlyn Owens (Carmel, NY) is averaging scores of 8.013 on bars, 8.847 on beam and 8.908 on floor. She posted a season-high mark of 8.750 on bars vs. Springfield on Mar. 5. Owens posted a season-high score of 9.400 on beam at the SUNY-Brockport meet on Jan. 29. She tied a season-high with a score of 9.000 on floor vs. Southern Connecticut on Feb. 27.

Sophomore Cassie O’Blenis (Warren, RI) is averaging scores of 8.850 on vault, 6.200 on bars, 8.850 on beam and 8.950 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 9.025 on vault and 8.850 on beam at the SUNY-Brockport meet on Jan. 22. She posted a season-high mark of 6.250 on bars at the URI meet on Feb. 5. She recorded a season-high mark of 9.100 on floor vs. Springfield on Mar. 5.

Freshman Melissa Demirjian (Warwick, RI) is averaging scores of 7.905 on bars, 8.190 on beam and 8.635 on floor. She tied a season-high mark of 8.250 on bars against Springfield on Mar. 5. She posted a season-high mark of 8.700 on beam at the URI meet on Feb. 5. Demirjian posted a season-high mark of 8.975 on floor against Bridgeport on Feb. 13.

Senior co-captain Michaela Hogan (Warwick, RI) has an injured ankle and will miss the remainder of the season. Through the first six competitions this season, Hogan is averaging scores of 9.013 on vault, 8.275 on bars and 8.700 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 9.125 on vault at the SUNY-Brockport meet on Jan. 22 and at the Bridgeport meet on Feb. 13. She posted a season-high mark of 8.950 on bars at the Bridgeport meet on Feb. 13. Hogan posted a season-high mark of 9.250 on floor at the M.I.T. meet on Feb. 19.

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at West Chester University on Saturday, Mar. 12.
