2004-05 Women’s Basketball Season Summary
|
11-16 Overall; 6-8 (fourth place) in the Little East Conference
|
|
Providence, RI--Head
Coach Spencer Manning’s team was 11-16 overall and
6-8 (fourth place) in the Little East Conference. The
Anchorwomen’s fourth place LEC finish earned the right to host a
first-round conference tournament game for the second straight
season and RIC downed UMass Dartmouth, 75-63. RIC was eliminated
in the semi-final round of the 2005 LEC Tournament as they were
defeated, 81-47, by nationally ranked Southern Maine. |

Senior guard Alyson St. Amand (West Warwick, RI) concludes
her two-year career at RIC having played 49 career games, starting
five of them. She transferred from the Community College of Rhode
Island to RIC her junior season, and totaled 92 career points, 55
rebounds, 34 assists and 42 steals as an Anchorwoman. |

As a senior in 2004-05, she played in 26 games, starting five of
them. She averaged 2.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals per
game. St. Amand registered season-highs of nine points vs.
Plattsburgh State on Jan. 3, four rebounds vs. Connecticut College
on Nov. 27, four assists vs. Plymouth State on Jan. 22 and five
steals vs. Pine Manor on Jan. 13. |

As a junior in 2003-04, St. Amand
played
in 23 games. She averaged 1.5 points and 0.9 rebounds per game.
St. Amand registered season-highs of nine points twice, four
rebounds vs. Pine Manor, two assists twice and four steals vs.
Wesleyan. |

|
She played at CCRI as a sophomore in 2002-03 and as a freshman in
2001-02. |
|
|
|
She is a physical education major/health major and a 2001 graduate
of West Warwick High School. |
|
|
|
Junior guard Jamie Angell (Cranston, RI) was named First
Team All-Little East Conference. She played in 27 games, starting
21 of them. She averaged a team-high 14.5 points and 3.5 assists
per game along with 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. Angell
registered season-highs of 29 points vs. Eastern Connecticut on
Dec. 11, seven rebounds vs. Keene State on Feb. 19, ten assists
vs. Wellesley on Nov. 30 and eight steals vs. Pine Manor on Jan.
13. Angell led the Little East in scoring, as well as free throw
percentage with a .813 mark. |

Sophomore forward Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) was named Second
Team All-Little East Conference for the second consecutive season.
Geisler played in 27 games, starting 24 of them. She averaged a
team-high 9.3 rebounds per game to go along with 10.4 points, 1.1
steals and 0.9 blocks per game. Geisler registered season-highs of
21 points twice, 17 rebounds vs. Western Connecticut on Feb. 15,
two assists on several occasions, four steals vs. Roger Williams
on Nov. 19 and three blocks vs. UMass Dartmouth on Jan. 18. She
was named the Little East Conference's Player of the Week twice
this season. She led the Little East in offensive, defensive and
total rebounds per game. Geisler was also tenth in the LEC in
scoring. Her 459 career rebounds currently ranks her 11th
all-time at RIC. |

Junior guard Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) played in 26
games, starting 20 of them. She averaged 8.7 points, 2.7 rebounds
and a team-high 2.6 steals per game. Nix registered season-highs
of 22 points and three blocks vs. UMass Dartmouth on Jan. 18, six
rebounds four times, four assists vs. Eastern Connecticut on Jan.
29 and tied a program record with eight steals vs. Pine Manor on
Jan. 13. Nix’s 2.6 steals-per-game average led the Little East. |

Sophomore forward Brittany Rosen (Derry, NH) played in 27
games, starting 23 of them. She averaged 7.1 points, was second on
the team in rebounding averaging 7.1 per game. She also
contributed 1.5 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Rosen registered
season-highs of 17 points vs. UMass-Boston on Jan. 8, 20 rebounds
and five steals vs. Westfield State on Dec. 9, three assists on
several occasions and one block three times. Her 20 boards vs.
Westfield State were the third-most in a game in RIC women’s hoop
history. |

Freshman guard Sarah Coughlin (North Attleboro, MA) played
in 27 games, starting seven of them. She averaged 1.9 points, 1.8
rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game. She registered
season-highs of eight points, nine rebounds and six steals vs.
Johnson & Wales on Dec. 7 and seven assists vs. UMass Boston on
Feb. 5. |

Freshman forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME)
played in 27 games, starting 22 of them. She averaged 6.3 points,
5.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Danieli
registered season-highs of 11 points twice, ten rebounds vs. UMass
Dartmouth on Jan. 18, five assists on two occasions and four
steals vs. UMass Dartmouth on Feb. 8. |

Freshman forward Colleen Feeney (Providence, RI) joined the
Anchorwomen mid-way through the season and played in 17 games,
starting in four of them. She averaged 7.2 points, 5.5 rebounds
and 1.1 assists per game. She registered season-highs of 20 points
vs. Keene State on Jan. 15, 11 rebounds and three steals vs. UMass
Boston on Feb. 5, four assists vs. UMass Dartmouth on Jan. 18 and
two blocks on several occasions. Feeney was named the Little East
Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week once this season. |

Freshman forward Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) played in 21
games, starting two of them. She averaged 3.1 points and 2.2
rebounds per game. Heard registered season-highs of 18 points and
two assists vs. UMass Boston on Feb. 5, nine rebounds vs. Pine
Manor on Jan. 13, one steal and one block on several occasions.
She was named the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Weekly
Honor Roll once this season. |

games, starting two of them. She averaged 1.8 points and 0.5
rebounds per game. She registered season-highs of nine points vs.
Pine Manor on Jan. 13, two rebounds twice and one steal on several
occasions. |

Freshman guard Marissa VanHaverbeke (Barrington, RI) played
in nine games. |
