KYLE TEIXEIRA BREAKS ALL-TIME
RIC CAREER POINTS RECORD
IN, 3-1, WIN

Cambridge, MA—Rhode
Island College senior forward Kyle Teixeira (Warren, RI) broke
the school’s all-time career points record with a two-goal, five-point
effort in the Anchormen’s, 3-1, win over M.I.T. on Saturday afternoon. |

Teixeira came into today’s
action trailing Domenico Petrarca’s ’77 all-time career point
total of 147 by two. He opened the game’s scoring in the 13th
minute, scoring off of a rebound, tying Petrarca’s all-time mark in
the process. Teixeira took sole place of the all-time lead with an
assist on sophomore Julian Montoya’s (North
Providence, RI)
goal in the 29th minute. Teixeira added an insurance goal
in the 84th minute, giving the Anchormen a 3-0 lead.
Petrarca’s record had stood for 29 years (1976). |

M.I.T. finally got on the
board in the 88th minute when Neil Zimmerman scored.
RIC sophomore goalkeeper Jadon Neves (Warren,
RI) made two saves
to earn the win. M.I.T. goalkeeper Thomas Caldwell made six
stops. |

|
Teixeira has three goals and
two assists for eight points this season. He leads RIC in each of
those statistical categories. For his career, Teixeira has 66 career
goals, 18 career assists and 150 career points. He broke RIC’s and
Petrarca’s all-time career goals record last season. He is first
all-time at RIC in career goals and points, and is sixth in career
assists. |
