GIL’s HAT TRICK POWERS WILDCATS

Providence, RI—Johnson
& Wales junior forward Kelly Gil (Pawtucket,
RI) scored three
goals, including the game-winner, in the Wildcats’, 4-2, win over
Rhode Island College on Tuesday afternoon. |

Gil scored the first three
goals of the game as JWU built a 3-0 lead. She tallied in the 18th,
46th and 63rd minute, respectively. Junior
midfielder Kathryn Cherecwich (Howell,
NJ) assisted on
Gil’s first goal and junior midfielder Leah Farrar (Uxbridge,
MA) assisted on her
second. |

RIC stepped up the offensive
pressure in the final 25 minutes as sophomore forward Gina Calenda
(Warren, RI)
and junior
midfielder Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth,
RI) scored in the
65th and 73rd minute, respectively. |

|
Johnson and Wales put the game
out of reach in the 82nd minute as freshman defender
Katie Cronin (Hudson,
MA) fired in a long
shot that eluded RIC freshman goalkeeper Krissie Pyzynski (Bristol,
CT). |

Wildcat freshman goalkeeper
Karisa Durkee (Newport,
VT) made five saves
to improve her record to 3-1 on the season. Pyzynski made five
saves and saw her record dip to 3-1 on the season as well. |

In upcoming action, RIC will
host Southern Maine on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. |
