Mens Soccer Drops 5-0 Decision To Rhode Island College

Senior Kyle Teixeira (Warren, R.I.) scored a hat-trick and added
an assist as Rhode Island College posted a 5-0 victory against Johnson &
Wales University in a non-conference contest at Pierce Stadium on
Wednesday evening.
Rhode Island College got on the board first when senior James Lynch (Jamestown,
R.I.) headed in a pass from
Teixeira to give the visiting Anchormen a 1-0 lead at the 13:45 mark.
Rhode Island College took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
RIC extended their lead early in the second half when Teixeira notched the
first of his three goals on the evening at the 45:54 mark. He then put in
a pass from freshman Tyrell Burgess (Smiths,
Bermuda)
at the 51:22 mark to give Rhode Island College the 3-0 advantage.
Teixeira then tallied his third goal of the dean, an unassisted tally at
the 59:25 mark to take the 4-0 lead. The Anchormen wrapped up the scoring
for the evening on a goal from freshman Matt Gesvaldi (North
Smithfield, R.I.) at 84:25 and
then cruised to the 5-0 victory.
Sophomore Sean Gonsalves (Somerset,
Mass.) made two saves in the
win for Rhode Island while senior Stephane Ost (Maynard,
Mass.) had three stops in the
setback for Johnson & Wales.
Johnson & Wales falls
to 3-5 with the setback while Rhode Island College improves to 3-3 on the
year. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, September 24th when
they travel to Nashua, N.H., for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference
contest at 3:30 p.m.
