RIC EARNS THIRD STRAIGHT WIN WITH,
6-0, VICTORY OVER UMASS BOSTON

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College won its third consecutive game, all of which have come
by shutout, with a 6-0 win over UMass Boston on Saturday afternoon.
RIC improves to 4-3 overall and stays unbeaten in the Little East
Conference with a 2-0 mark. UMB falls to 6-2 overall and remains
winless in the LEC with an 0-2 mark. The win was the Anchormen’s
eighth consecutive victory over the Beacons. |

Sophomore midfielder James
Nigrelli (Ashaway, RI) netted what proved to be the game-winning
goal in the ninth minute. Junior midfielder Holman Giraldo
(Pawtucket, RI) scored two goals and senior forward Kyle
Teixeira (Warren, RI), freshman defender Dan Rodrigues
(Cumberland, RI) and junior forward Nick Tavares (East
Providence, RI) each netted a goal. Rodrigues’ goal
were the first of his collegiate career. Sophomore
midfielder Julian Montoya (North Providence, RI) chipped in
with two assists. |

Sophomore goalkeeper Jadon
Neves (Warren, RI) made two saves to earn his first shutout and
improve his record to 2-3 on the season. The Anchormen have not
allowed a goal in their last 271:42 of play. |

UMass Boston freshman
goalkeeper Paul Maniscalco (Boston, MA) was under the gun all
afternoon as he made six saves in a losing effort. |

In upcoming action, RIC will
play at Tufts on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. UMass Boston will play at
Salem State on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. |
