BY RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE, 1-0

Sophomore midfielder Michaela
Bileau netted the only goal of the day to lead the Rhode Island
College women’s soccer team over host University of
Massachusetts Boston,
1-0, in a Little East Conference match this afternoon at the
Clark Athletic Center on the campus of
UMass Boston. The Beacons fall to 1-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the LEC,
while the Anchorwomen improve to 5-2-0 and 1-1-0. |

Krista MacKinnon crossed to Gina
Calenda, who then crossed to Bileau, who was camped on the right side
of the net, for a shot into the left corner that found the back of the
net for the lone score at 23:56 of the first half. |

UMass Boston junior keeper Denise
B. Ridge (Milton, MA)
held Rhode Island College
scoreless for the final 66:04 of the match, while stopping 10 shots in
the contest. Krissie Pyzynski earned the shutout victory for
the Anchorwomen, while recording four saves, as RIC held a 32-6 shot
advantage. |

scoreless for a half for the first time since blanking Plymouth State
University in the first half of a match played on September 28, 2002. |

UMass Boston will
be in action again on Thursday, September 29 when it hosts Rivier
College at 3:30 p.m., while
Rhode Island College takes on
Saint Joseph’s College (ME) tomorrow in Providence at 3:00 p.m. |
