Island College outshot Framingham State, 32-7, and defeated the Rams,
6-1, in collegiate women’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon. The
Anchorwomen are 7-2 overall and off to their best start since the 1999
squad opened the season with an 8-1 mark. |

Sophomore forwards Ashley
Teixeira (Warren, RI) and Jessica Cardinal (Harrisville, RI)
each scored twice, while junior forward Erika Haaland (North
Dartmouth, MA) and sophomore forward Gina Calenda (Warren, MA)
also added goals. Sophomore midfielder Leah Hayes (Coventry, RI)
had two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Krissie Pyzynski (Bristol, CT)
made four saves to up her record to 7-2 on the season. |

Framingham State senior
forward Daniela Ferrara (Billerica, MA) spoiled the
Anchorwomen’s shutout bid in the 84th minute. Junior
goalkeeper Ashley Baker (Mansfield, RI) was peppered with shots
all afternoon and made 11 saves in a losing effort. |

play at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m. |
