|
Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College freshman forward Tyrell Burgess (Smiths, Bermuda)
scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with eight seconds left
in the first half and sophomore goalkeeper Sean Gonsalves
(Somerset, MA) made two saves to notch his third consecutive
shutout as the Anchormen defeated Little East Conference rival UMass
Dartmouth, 2-0, in collegiate men’s soccer action. |

Burgess took a direct kick
after a UMD foul and buried a shot from 20 yards out to give RIC a
lead that it would never relinquish. The Anchormen peppered UMD
sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Fossey (Townsend, MA) all day as RIC
outshot the Corsairs, 34-5. RIC senior forward Kyle Teixeira

junior midfielder Nic Rossi (North Kingstown, RI) led all
players with eight shots. |
