ANCHORWOMEN COME BACK TO DOWN KSC,
3-1
|
|
Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College came back from a 22-9 deficit in game four to win the
frame and defeat Keene State, 3-1, in collegiate women’s volleyball
action on Tuesday night. RIC wins its fifth consecutive match and
improves to 14-9 overall and 3-2 in the Little East Conference. The
Owls fall to 6-7 overall and 3-2 in the LEC. |

Junior middle hitter Erin
Miga (Cranston, RI) had 15 kills, six aces and five blocks to lead
the Anchorwomen. Miga’s five blocks give her 374 career rejections,
tying Brandee Trainer’s ’01 all-time school record. Senior
outside hitter Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) had 16 kills and
21 digs, while sophomore right side hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry,
RI) posted ten kills. The setter tandem of sophomores Jeanne
Rosa (Milford, CT) and Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) posted 44
assists with 22 apiece. |

KSC sophomore setter Kelly
Yankowski (Turners Falls, MA) had 12 kills, 27 assists and eight
digs. Freshman outside hitter Brittany O’Bryant (Merrimack, NH)
had 11 kills, 17 digs and five blocks. |

In upcoming action, RIC will
take part in a tri-match with Clark at Eastern Nazarene on Saturday,
Oct. 8. |
