Anchorwomen Capture Third
Consecutive
Little East Conference Regular Season Title |
|
NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-A shorthanded University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth’s women’s tennis team fell to Little East
Conference rival Rhode Island College at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic
Complex Friday afternoon. RIC captured its third consecutive Little
East Conference Regular Season Championship with the win. RIC will
compete at the Little East Conference Championships, hosted by Western
Connecticut on Oct. 14-15. |

With the match rescheduled from Saturday due to
the threat of inclement weather, only five Corsairs were able to play,
and the Anchorwomen won, 9-0. |
|
|
|
Freshman Noelle Judd (Burlington, MA/Burlington
HS) lost to Liz Barrette, 8-6, at number one singles, while freshman
Allison DeAngelis (Milford, MA/Milford HS) fell to Kseniya Gurvich at
number four, 8-6. The singles matches were played as eight-game pro
sets due to the threat of rain. |

The Corsairs fell to 5-5, 2-2 in LEC play with
the defeat, while RIC improved to 11-1 and 7-0. UMass Dartmouth will
return to action when they visit Southern Maine Monday. RIC will host
Suffolk on Tuesday, Oct. 11. |
