ANCHORWOMEN ADVANCE IN LEC TOURNEY
WITH, 3-0, WIN

Providence, RI—Fourth-seeded
Rhode Island College downed fifth-seeded UMass Dartmouth, 3-0, in
first round action of the 2005 Little East Conference Women’s
Volleyball Tournament. The Anchorwomen advance to face top-seeded
Eastern Connecticut in the semi-finals on Friday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. |

RIC improves its record to
22-13, the most wins in a season since the 1986 squad also won 22
matches. The Corsairs fall to 17-15 on the season and are eliminated
from the tournament. |

The Anchorwomen earned
decisive wins in game one (30-18) and game two (30-18), then held on
to take game three (31-29). UMD had game point, 29-28, in the third
tilt, but the Anchorwomen tied the game, 29-29, and went on to clinch
the match. |

RIC senior outside hitter
Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) had another strong all-around
match, posting a match-high 12 kills to go along with 13 digs. Junior
middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) had 11 kills and a
match-high four blocks. Senior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski
(North Kingstown, RI) had a team-high 15 digs and sophomore setter
Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) had 20 assists. |

UMD freshman middle hitter
Hilary Teichart (Bourne, MA) had 11 kills and freshman libero
Aly Zagame (Greenfield, MA) had a match-high 16 digs in a losing
effort. |
