Eastern will be making its 10th trip to the final in the tournament’s
11 years. The Warriors won titles from 1995 through 1998, losing last
year to Plymouth State, 3-0. It will be the first finals appearance in
the 11-year history of the tournament for Keene, which recorded its
highest regular-season finish (third) during the regular season.
Plymouth, which had downed Keene 3-2 Sept. 16, had reached the
tournament final each of the past two seasons, winning its first crown
a year ago over Eastern. |

Since losing four straight, Eastern has won 18 of its last 21,
including its last five straight. The Warriors had beaten Rhode Island
in four games Sept. 17 in Providence. The Anchorwomen were the top
seed in last year’s conference season after sharing the regular-season
title with Eastern, Plymouth and Western Connecticut. Eastern and
Plymouth shared this year’s regular-season conference title with 6-1
records. |
