Hawks Sink Anchormen in Men’s Tennis

Bristol, RI, March 23, 2006-  The Roger Williams men’s tennis team opened its home schedule on Thursday afternoon against Rhode Island College.  The Hawks did so in fashion by blanking the Anchormen and winning every match in route to a 9-0 team victory.

Sophomore Brad Bolte (Sussex, MT) won in straight sets in his single match over Tauquir Puthawala (Lincoln, RI) 6-0, 6-0.  Bolte also won his double’s match paired with Jay Dono (W. Bolyston, MA) against Tom LaPierre (Pasvoag, RI) and Lorn Teeter (Warwick, RI), 8-2.  Hawk junior Dana Morin (Bellingham, MA) beat Chirs Furey (Cabot, VT) 6-2, 6-1.  He also won his doubles match paired with Justin Anderson (Orange, CT) 8-2, against Elliot LeFaiver (Warwick, RI) and Garrett Smith (Providence, RI).  Hawk’s sophomore Dan Roberts (W. Haven, CT) also had a successful afternoon defeating Jay LaDuke (Warren, RI) 6-2, 6-0.

With the win, the Hawks picked up their first win of the year improving to 1-4 overall.  RIC falls to 0-1 on the year.  Roger Williams returns to action on Saturday, March 25 when their opponent will be Gordon College.  RIC also returns to action on Saturday, March 25, when they will face Clark University.
