In the first contest, the Hawks
trailed from start to finish as the Anchorwomen pounced all over the Hawks
pitching. Leading the way on offense for the visiting team was Christie
Lotti (Waterford, CT) who has an impressive day at the plate going 4-for-4
with a game-high five RBI’s. Leadoff hitter Katie Benevides (No. Dighton,
MA) proved to also be a tough out as she notched a 2-for-4 showing with
three runs scored to her credit. The Anchorwomen scored in every inning, but
the second. Junior Nicole Riley (No. Providence, RI) pitched a complete
game, allowing just three hits and two earned runs. |

The Hawks offense was silent
throughout most of the game. The team collected just three hits and only
drew to walks. Jaquie Cammarata (Randolph, NJ) and Andrea Gregory
(Toms River, NJ) were each credited with an RBI in the loss. |

In the second contest, the
Hawks offense continued to be silent and the Anchorwomen used their power
and speed to their advantage as they came away with an 11-0 win. Leading the
charge on offense for the visitors was Benevides, who registered two singles
and a double to go along with two RBI’s, while sophomore infielder Krystal
Bilek (Fitchburg, MA) walked twice and singled. |

The Hawks were led by senior co-captain Kristen
Cerreto (Montrose, NY) walked twice, while Ashlyn Couture
(Middletown, MA) went 1-for-1 with a triple. The Hawks fall to
4-5-1, while RIC improves to 7-5 on the young season. The Hawks will
be back in action on Friday (March 24) when they travel to Fitchburg
State College for a 3:00 PM start. |
