RIC Baseball Selected To Participate in ECAC N.E. Tournament
Anchormen Earn First Berth in 19 years
|

Providence, RI—The
Rhode Island College baseball team has earned a berth in the Eastern
College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Div. III Baseball
Tournament. This will be the first ECAC tourney appearance for the
Anchormen in 19 years, who were last selected during the 1987 season. |

The seedings are as follows: 1.
Keene State; 2. Brandeis; 3. M.I.T.; 4. Rhode Island College; 5. UMass
Boston; 6. Castleton State. The Anchormen will host fifth-seeded
UMass Boston on Friday, May 19 at Anchorman Field at 3 p.m. Keene
State and Brandeis each receive first-round byes. Keene State will
host the remaining teams on Saturday, May 20. |

Head Coach Jay Grenier’s
team is 20-20 on the season. The Anchormen were eliminated from the
2006 Little East Conference Baseball Tournament with losses to Eastern
Connecticut (9-4) on May 10 and to Southern Maine (7-6) on May 11. |
