Rhode Island College’s Mike Bonora
Named an Academic All-American

 

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College sophomore wrestler Mike Bonora (Nutley, NJ) was named an NCAA Div. III Wrestling Academic All-American.

 

Bonora, who owns a cumulative GPA of 3.67, was named a Second Team Pilgrim Wrestling League All-Star in 2005-06. He earned All-New England honors, placing fourth at 141 lbs at the New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) Championships. For the season, he posted a 16-3 record with 50 takedowns, three reversals and three pins. He was also selected as the team’s Most Outstanding Wrestler. He is a psychology major and a 2003 graduate of Nutley High School.

 

Head Coach Jay Jones’ team placed 11th (15 teams) at the NECCWA Championships with 30.5 points. The Anchormen finished the 2005-06 season with a 14-11 overall record, a 10-6 record against NECCWA competition and a 4-2 mark in the Pilgrim Wrestling League.
