Rhode Island College Names Greg
Gammell
Head Men’s Golf Coach

Providence, RI—
Rhode Island College has named Greg Gammell as its new head
men’s golf coach. He takes over for John Fitta who stepped down
at the end of last season. |
|
|
|
“I am very excited
to join the men’s golf program here at Rhode Island College,” Gammell
says. “I am looking forward to working with the team and building upon
their recent success.” |
|
|
|
Gammell, a
Coventry, Rhode Island native, is an outstanding golfer who is a
six-time champion and four-time runner-up at the Pawtuxet Valley Open.
He was the Fenner Hill Golf Course Club Championship runner-up in
2000. |
|
|
|
In addition to his
coaching duties, Gammell is the Assistant Director of Facilities and
Operations at Rhode Island College. |
|
|
|
He earned a
bachelor’s degree in agriculture and resource technology from the
University of Rhode Island in 1983. He played three seasons of golf
for the Rams, placing fourth at the 1983 New England Intercollegiate
Championships. Gammell earned Honorable Mention All-New England honors
as a senior in 1983. |

|
Gammell resides in
Coventry, Rhode Island with his wife Beverly. They have two children:
Geoff and Kelsey. |

|
|
The Anchormen
posted a 6-1 record during the spring 2006 season and missed going
undefeated by one stroke. RIC was 4-7 during the fall 2005 season for
a combined 10-8 mark in ’05-06. |
