2006 Mens Outdoor Track & Field Season Summary

Providence, RI--Head
Coach Kevin Jacksons team closed out the 2005-06 season at the
Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, hosted by
Springfield on May 19. RIC tied for 30th place (54 teams)
with 6.0 points. |

|
|
The Anchormen competed at the New England Div. III Championships,
hosted Springfield on May 6. RIC tied for 21st place (26
teams) with 8.0 points. |
|
|
|
RIC competed at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance
Championships, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Apr. 29. RIC placed fifth
overall (ten teams) and fourth (five teams) in the Little East with
69.0 and 93.0 points, respectively. |

|
Senior Tim Goodwin (Warwick,
RI)
closed out his career, placing ninth in the 5,000 meters with a time
of 16:47.51, at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Apr. 29. He
placed eighth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:27.06
at the Silfen Invitational on Apr. 22. Goodwin placed eighth in the
5,000 meters with a time of 16:39.62 at the Solomon Husky Invitational
on Apr. 15. He placed fourth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a
time of 11:01.93 at the Bryant Invitational on Apr. 8. Goodwin placed
15th in the 1,500 meters and fifth in the 5,000 meters with
times of 4:26.80 and 17:09.20, respectively, at the Rhode Island
College Invitational on Apr. 1. He placed 30th in the 1,500
meters with a time of 4:29.13 at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 25. |

As a junior in 2005, he
earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 3,000 meter
steeplechase, placing seventh with a time of 10:49.43 at the LEC/MASCAC
Alliance Championships. He placed 24th in the 1,500 meters
with a time of 4:28.04 at the Solomon Husky Invitational. He placed
ninth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:51.11 at the
Albany Invitational. He placed 11th in the 5,000 meters
with a time of 16:45.02 at the Bryant Invitational. He placed 19th
in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:27.46 at the Snowflake Classic. |

As a sophomore in 2004, Goodwin earned All-Alliance/Little East honors
in two events at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships. He finished
fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:40.45 and fifth in the
3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:44.3. He placed fourth in
the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a season-best time of 10:35.95 at
the Bryant College Invitational. He finished fifth in the 5,000 meters
with a season-best time of 15:57.52 at the RIC Invitational. He placed
47th in the 1,500 meters with a season-best time of 4:22.84
at the Snowflake Classic. |

Prior to coming to RIC, Goodwin competed at Manhattan College in
2001-02. He is a communications major and a 2001 graduate of Bishop
Hendricken High School. |

Senior Manny Karngar (Providence, RI) closed out his career
earning All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 800 meters, placing
first with a time of 1:56.86, and as part of the 4x400 meter relay
team, which placed first with a time of 3:24.59, at the LEC/MASCAC
Alliance Championships on Apr. 29. He placed second in the 800 meters
with a time of 1:54.46 and was part of the 4x400 relay team that
placed second, establishing a new school-record time of 3:23.72 in
that event, at the Silfen Invitational on Apr. 22. Karngar placed
first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.17 at the Solomon Husky
Invitational on Apr. 15. He placed ninth in the 400 meters with a time
of 53.29 at the Bryant Invitational on Apr. 8. Karngar placed first in
the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.70 at the Rhode Island College
Invitational on Apr. 1. He placed 20th in the 1,500 meters
with a time of 4:22.97 at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 25. |

|
As a junior in 2005, Karngar
earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in four events, placing second
in the 400 meters, third in the 800 meters, third as part of the 4x400
meter relay and seventh as part of the 4x100 meter relay with times of
50.28, 2:01.24, 3:33.39 and 45.22, respectively at the LEC/MASCAC
Alliance Championships. He placed 16th in the 800 meters
with a time of 1:59.92 at the New England Div. III Championships. He
placed seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 23.22 at the Solomon
Husky Invitational. He placed first in the 800 meters with a time of
1:55.62 at the Albany Invitational. He placed third in the 400 meters
and 11th in the 1,500 meters with times of 50.21 and
4:19.44, respectively, at the Snowflake Classic. |

|
As a sophomore in 2004, Karngar placed 11th in the 800
meters with a time of 1:55.43 at the ECAC Championships. He placed
eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.94 at the New England
Open Championships. Karngar earned All-New England honors in the 800
meters, placing third with a time of 1:55.24 at the N.E. Div. III
Championships. He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in three
events at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships. He finished first in
the 800 meters with a season-best time of 1:54.82, second in the 400
meters with a season-best time of 49.50 and fourth as a part of the
4x400 meter relay team with a time of 3:29.35. He finished second in
the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.85 at the Solomon Husky
Invitational. He placed eighth in the 200 meters with a season-best
time of 23.56 and third in the 400 meters with a time of 50.42 at the
Bryant College Invitational. He finished first in the 800 meters with
a time of 1:58.75 at the RIC Invitational. He placed 11th
in the 1,500 meters with a season-best time of 4:07.99 at the
Snowflake Classic. |

As a freshman in 2003, Karngar broke a bone in his foot at the 2003
Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, which ended his
season prematurely. He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors
in the 800 meters, placing first with a time of 1:55.85 and as part of
the 4 x 100 meter relay team, which placed third with a time of 44.65.
He placed 12th in the 400 meters with a time of 51.43 at
the Bernard Solomon Husky Invitational. He placed third in the 400
meters with a time of 50.73 at the Bridgewater State College
Invitational. Karngar placed first in the 800 meters with a time of
1:55.70 at the RIC Invitational. He placed third in the 1,500 meters
with a time of 4:10.30 at the Husky Spring Open. |

Senior Nick Palazzo (Johnston, RI) closed out his career,
earning All-ECAC honors in the hammer, placing third with a distance
of 54.15 meters at the ECAC Championships on May 19. Palazzo placed 14th
in the hammer with a distance of 48.66 meters at the N.E. Open
Championships on May 13. He earned All-New England honors in the
hammer, placing sixth with a distance of 51.85 meters at the N.E. Div.
III Championships on May 6. Palazzo earned All-Alliance/Little East
honors in the hammer, placing third with a distance of 50.57 meters,
at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Apr. 29. He placed sixth
in the hammer with a distance of 45.21 meters and 15th in
the javelin with a distance of 41.98 meters at the Silfen Invitational
on Apr. 22. Palazzo placed fifth in the hammer with a distance of
51.92 meters at the Solomon Husky Invitational on Apr. 15. He placed
fourth in the hammer with a distance of 46.20 meters at the Bryant
Invitational on Apr. 8. Palazzo placed first in the hammer and fourth
in the javelin with distances of 54.16 and 43.62 meters, respectively,
at the Rhode Island College Invitational on Apr. 1. He placed ninth in
the hammer with a distance of 50.34 meters at the Snowflake Classic on
Mar. 25. |

167'02" at the N.E. Div. III Championships. Palazzo earned
All-Alliance/Little East honors by placing second in the hammer throw
with a distance of 16403 at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships.
He finished seventh in the hammer throw with a distance of 15608 at
the Solomon Husky Invitational. He placed second in the hammer throw
with a distance of 15204 at the Bryant College Invitational. He
finished second in the hammer throw with a distance of 15902 at the
RIC Invitational. He placed fifth in the hammer throw with a distance

Senior Rich Palazzo (Johnston, RI) has a year of outdoor
eligibility remaining and plans on competing in 2007. He placed 13th
in the hammer with a distance of 47.85 meters, at the ECAC
Championships on May 19. Palazzo placed 12th in the hammer
with a distance of 44.70 meters at the N.E. Div. III Championships on
May 6. He earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the hammer with a
distance of 47.40 meters, at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships on
Apr. 29. Palazzo placed seventh in the hammer and 32nd in
the discus with distances of 44.78 and 24.01 meters, respectively, at
the Silfen Invitational on Apr. 22. He placed 11th in the
hammer with a distance of 43.47 meters at the Solomon Husky
Invitational on Apr. 15. Palazzo placed second in the hammer with a
distance of 47.87 meters at the Rhode Island College Invitational on
Apr. 1. He placed 17th in the hammer with a distance of

Junior Justin Dalton (Warwick, RI) was named the teams MVP.
Dalton placed 12th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of
56.52 at the ECAC Championships on May 19. He earned All-New England
honors in the 400 meters hurdles, placing fifth with a time of 56.44,
at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 6. He also placed 19th
with a time of 3:35.93 as part of the 4x400 meter relay team. Dalton
earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 400 meter hurdles,
placing first with a school-record time of 56.41, and as part of
the 4x400 meter relay team, which placed first with a time of 3:24.59,
at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Apr. 29. He also placed 21st
in the long jump with a leap of 5.40 meters. He placed first in the
400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.07 and was part of the 4x400
relay team that placed second, establishing a new school-record time
of 3:23.72 in that event, at the Silfen Invitational on Apr. 22.
Dalton placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.18 at
the Solomon Husky Invitational on Apr. 15. He placed second in the 400
meter hurdles with a time of 58.56 at the Bryant Invitational on Apr.

Junior Eric Estrada (Riverside, RI) placed 19th as
part of the 4x400 meter relay team with a time of 3:35.93 at the N.E.
Div. III Championships on May 6. Estrada earned All-Alliance/Little
East honors as part of the 4x400 relay team, which placed first with a
time of 3:24.59, at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships on Apr. 29.
He also placed 11th in the preliminary round of the 100
meters with a time of 11.76, 15th in the 400 meters with a
time of 52.99 and 20th in the long jump with a leap of 5.45
meters. He placed 23rd in the 400 meters with a time of
53.53 and was part of the 4x400 relay team that placed second,
establishing a new school-record time of 3:23.72 in that event, at
the Silfen Invitational on Apr. 22. Estrada placed seventh in the 100
meters and tenth in the 200 meters with times of 11.72 and 23.80,
respectively, at the Solomon Husky Invitational on Apr. 15. He placed
15th in the 400 meters with a time of 54.79 at the Bryant
Invitational on Apr. 8. Estrada placed eighth in the 200 meters and
fourth in the 400 meters with times of 24.30 and 52.70, respectively,
at the Rhode Island College Invitational on Apr. 1. He placed 10th
in the 100 meters and 11th in the 200 meters with times of
12.04 and 24.02, respectively at the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 25. |

Junior Eric Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI) placed 12th
in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:05.10 at the ECAC Championships
on May 19. He placed 12th in the 1,500 meters with a time
of 4:02.65 and 19th as part of the 4x400 meter relay team
with a time of 3:35.93 at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 6.
Lonergan earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 1,500 and 5,000
meters, placing sixth with a time of 4:10.38 and fourth with a time of
15:45.36, respectively, at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships on
Apr. 29. He placed first in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:59.38 at
the Silfen Invitational on Apr. 22. Lonergan placed fourth in the
5,000 meters with a time of 15:44.69 at the Solomon Husky Invitational
on Apr. 15. He placed sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:05.00
at the Bryant Invitational on Apr. 8. Lonergan placed third in the
1,500 meters and first in the 5,000 meters with times of 4:08.90 and
16:24.20, respectively, at the Rhode Island College Invitational on
Apr. 1. He placed sixth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:10.62 at
the Snowflake Classic on Mar. 25. He was named the Little East
Conference Mens Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week once on the season. |

Junior Dan Newman (Smithfield, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little
East honors in the high jump with a leap of 1.93 meters at the LEC/MASCAC
Alliance Championships on Apr. 29. Newman placed fourth in the high
jump with a leap of 1.88 meters at the Solomon Husky Invitational on
Apr. 15. He placed first in the high jump with a leap of 1.77 meters
at the Bryant Invitational on Apr. 8. Newman placed fourth in the 400
meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.60, second in the high jump with a
leap of 1.88 meters and second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.35
meters at the Rhode Island College Invitational on Apr. 1. He placed
ninth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.72 and second in
the high jump with a leap of 1.83 meters at the Snowflake Classic on

fourth with a time of 16.34 at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships
on Apr. 29. He placed fifth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of
16.51 and 28th in the shot with a distance of 9.64 meters
at the Silfen Invitational on Apr. 22. Buselli placed seventh in the
110 meter hurdles with a time of 16:48 at the Solomon Husky
Invitational on Apr. 15. He placed first in the 110 meter hurdles with
