MIDDLEBURY WINS SKIDMORE
WOMEN'S INVITATIONAL, 80-57 |

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. –Middlebury
College beat Rhode Island College 80-57 to win the 28th Annual
Skidmore Invitational Women's Basketball Tournament, Sunday
afternoon. Oneonta State won the consolation game, 61-41. |

Tournament Most
Valuable Player Katie Fisher scored 23 points, including 20 in the
first half to lead the Panthers (2-0). Emily Johnson added 16 points
and five rebounds off the bench, while Jennifer Kelleher had 10 points
and eight rebounds. |

Colleen Feeney led
Rhode Island (1-1) with 16 points. Kari Geisler had 10 points and 16
rebounds, while Jamie Angell had 13 points. |

In the consolation
game, Oneonta’s (1-1) defense forced 16 Skidmore turnovers in the
first half, holding the Thoroughbreds shooting 25 percent from the
field. Megan Bucci) and Shannon Weir led the Red Dragons with 10
points each, while Gabrielle Doemel had a team-high five assists and
two steals. Skidmore’s Kellye Caufield had a game high 11 points,
while Laurel Brown finished with six points and seven assists. |

Earning
all-tournament honors were Doemel from Oneonta, Krystal Coke from
Skidmore, Fisher and Johnson from Middlebury, and Geisler and Angell
from Rhode Island College. |

Skidmore is home on Tuesday against Russell Sage College
at 7 p.m. |
