Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College defeated WPI, 24-20, in a battle of New England College
Conference Wrestling Association rivals on Tuesday night. The
Anchormen win their third straight match and improve to 6-7, while the
Engineers fall to 3-7 on the season.

WPI jumped
out to a 7-0 lead on wins by senior Mike D’Onofrio (Northboro, MA)
and junior Josh Rodden (Sabina, OH). The Anchormen won the next
five matches as part of a 24-0 run to seal the win. Sophomore Mike
Bonora (Nutley, NJ) improved to 4-0 on the season with a 5-3 win
over junior Roman Walsh (Wilmington, MA), the sixth-ranked
grappler in New England at 141 lbs. Junior Luis Feliz (Cranston,
RI) upped his record to 8-3 on the year with a pin over junior
David Laramee (Rockland, MA), his sixth win by fall on the
season. |
