Women’s Tennis Season Summary

Coach Kelly Chartier’s
(Career Record: 44-10, .815) team finished the 2005 campaign with an
11-1 (.917) overall record and a 7-0 (1.000) record in the Little East
Conference. RIC went undefeated versus LEC competition for the second
consecutive season. The Anchorwomen were the Little East Conference
Regular Season and Tournament Champions. It was the program’s third
consecutive regular season championship, its second tournament title
in the past three years and the sixth overall in RIC history. At the
LEC Championships, hosted by Western Connecticut on Oct. 14-15, RIC
amassed 24.0 points, easily topping second place Plymouth State’s mark
of 14.0 points.

Senior
captain Liz Barrette (North
Providence, RI)
leaves RIC with a 43-18 (.705) career singles record and a 50-15
(.796) career doubles mark for 68.0 career points. Barrette is third
all-time at RIC in career points, third in career singles wins and
tied for first in career doubles wins. She is also 12th in
career singles winning percentage and seventh in career doubles
winning percentage. |

As a senior
in 2005, Barrette was the Little East Conference Champion at number
one doubles. She was 11-3 (.786) at number one singles and 19-2 (.882)
at number one doubles for 18.5 points on the season. She was tied for
second on the team in singles wins, tied for first on the team in
doubles wins and third in total points. While teaming up with freshman
Megan Hall, the 15 doubles wins established a new RIC single-season
record. Barrette was named Little East Conference Player of the Week
once on the season and was named the team’s MVP. |

As a junior
in 2004, she was 10-5 (.667) at number one singles and 9-6 (.600) at
number one doubles for 14.5 points on the season. Barrette was third
on the team in singles wins and points and was tied for third in
doubles victories. |
|
|
|
As a
sophomore in 2003, Barrette
was 12-5
(.706) at number one singles and 13-4 (.765) at number one doubles for
a team-high 18.5 points on the season. Barrette was tied for the team
lead in singles wins. |
|
|
|
As a
freshman in 2002, she
was the
Little East Conference Champion at number one doubles. Barrette was
10-5 (.667) at number one singles and 13-3 (.813) at number one
doubles for a total of 16.5 points on the season. |

|
She is a
physical education/health major and a 2001 graduate of La Salle
Academy. |

Senior
Alyson St. Amand (West
Warwick, RI)
leaves RIC with a 1-1 (.500) career doubles record. |

|
|
As a senior
in 2005, St. Amand was 1-0 (1.000) in doubles for 0.5 points on the
season. As a junior in 2004, St. Amand was 0-1 (.000) in doubles. St.
Amand played women’s soccer for RIC in 2003. Prior to transferring
into RIC, St. Amand played two seasons of women’s soccer at the
Community College of Rhode Island. |

was 11-3 in singles (.786) and 14-4 (.778) at number three doubles for
18.0 points on the season. Marchant was tied for third on the team in
both singles and doubles victories. |

was the Little East Conference Champion at number six singles and
number three doubles. She was 11-2 (.846) in singles and 14-4 (.778)
in doubles for 18.0 points on the season. Gorman was tied for third on
the team in both singles and doubles victories. |

was the Little East Conference Champion at number four singles. She
was 8-3 (.727) in singles for 8.0 points on the season. She was fourth
on the team in singles wins and sixth in points. |

doubles for 20.0 points on the season. Funk was tied for the team lead
in singles victories, was second in total points and tied for third in
doubles wins. She was named Little East Conference Rookie of the Week
once on the season. |

Megan Hall (Smithfield,
RI)
was the Little East Conference Champion at number two singles and
number one doubles. She was 13-1 (.929) in singles and 15-2 (.882) in
doubles for a team-high 20.5 points on the season. Her singles and
doubles win totals tied her for the team lead. Teaming up with senior
Liz Barrette, the 15 doubles wins established a new RIC single-season
record. She was named Little East Conference Rookie of the Week three
times on the season. |
