Volleyball Season Summary

(22-14 Overall; 4-3
in the Little East Conference)

Coach Craig Letourneau’s (Career Record: 66-62) team closed out
the 2005 season with a 22-14 overall record and a 4-3 (fourth place)
mark in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen reached the
semi-finals of the LEC Tournament before falling to eventual champion
Eastern Connecticut. |

The club’s
22 wins were the most in a season since the 1986 squad went 22-11. The
Anchorwomen also established new RIC records for the most kills
(1,572), assists (1,387), service aces (338) and digs (1,858) in a
season. |

|
|
Senior
Sara Chamberland (Coventry,
RI)
closes out
her career having played in 435 games in a RIC record 124 matches. In
her four seasons at RIC she compiled 191 kills (0.44/game), 110
assists (0.25/game), 574 digs (1.32/game), 86 blocks (0.20/game) and
32 service aces (0.07/game). |

As a senior
in 2005, she played in 122 games in 36 matches. She had 85 kills
(0.70/game), a .120 hitting percentage, 54 assists (0.44/game), 74
digs (0.61/game), 37 blocks (0.30/game) and one service ace
(0.01/game). |

|
|
As a junior
in 2004, Chamberland played in 110 games in 29 matches. She had 66
kills (0.60/game), a .036 hitting percentage, 37 assists (0.34/game),
127 digs (1.15/game), 39 blocks (0.37/game) and 16 service aces
(0.15/game). |

|
|
As a
sophomore in 2003, she played in 115 games in 30 matches. She had 33
kills (0.29/game), a .104 hitting percentage, 15 assists (0.13/game),
11 service aces (0.10/game), 281 digs (2.44/game) and nine blocks
(0.08/game). Chamberland’s 281 digs were a school record for a single
season at the time. |

As a
freshman in 2002, Chamberland played in 88 games in 29 matches.
She had seven kills (0.08/game), a .000 hitting percentage, four
assists (0.05/game), four service aces (0.05/game), 92 digs
(1.05/game) and one block (0.01/game). |

|
|
Chamberland
is a psychology major and a 2002 graduate of Coventry High School. |
|
|
|
Senior
outside hitter Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) closes out her
career having played in 348 games in 94 matches. In her three seasons
at RIC she compiled a RIC record 1,032 kills (2.97/game), 19 assists
(0.05/game), 729 digs (2.09/game), 139 blocks (0.40/game) and 103
service aces (0.30/game). Nix also established a new RIC career record
for hitting attempts (2,655) and became the tenth player to end her
career with a hitting percentage over .200 (.235). |

As a senior
in 2005, she was named First Team All-Little East Conference. Nix
played in 125 games in 36 matches. She had a RIC record 478 kills
(3.82/game), a .237 hitting percentage, four assists (0.03/game), 397
digs (3.18/game), 67 blocks (0.54/game) and 30 service aces
(0.24/game). Nix also established a new RIC record for hitting
attempts in a season with 1,276. |

|
As a junior
in 2004, Nix was named Second Team All-Little East Conference. Nix
played in 125 games in 33 matches. She had 355 kills (2.84/game), a
.251 hitting percentage, 36 service aces (0.29/game), 14 assists
(0.11/game), 269 digs (2.15/game) and 49 blocks (0.39/game). |

|
As a
sophomore in 2003, she played in 98 games in 25 matches. She had 199
kills (2.03/game), a .202 hitting percentage, 37 service aces
(0.38/game), 63 digs (0.64/game) and 23 blocks (0.24/game). |

|
|
Nix is a
business management major and a 2002 graduate of Ward Melville (NY)
High School. |

|
|
Senior
libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) closes out
her career having played in 361 games in 97 matches. In her three
seasons at RIC she compiled 186 kills (0.52/game), 49 assists
(0.14/games), 144 service aces (0.40/game), a RIC record 1,125 digs
(3.12/game) and ten blocks (0.03/game). |

As a senior
in 2005, she was named Second Team All-Little East Conference.
Wojciechowski played in 126 games in 36 matches. She had 56 kills
(0.44/game), ten assists (0.08/games), 49 service aces (0.39/game), a
RIC record 497 digs (3.94/game) and one block (0.01/game).
Wojciechowski was named Little East Conference Defensive Player of the
Week once on the season. She earned team MVP honors, as well as, RIC
Invitational MVP accolades. |

|
As a junior
in 2004, Wojciechowski played in 126 games in 33 matches. She had 33
kills (0.26/game), a .037 hitting percentage, five assists
(0.04/game), 44 service aces (0.35/game) and a team-high 380 digs
(3.02/game). Her 380 digs were a new RIC record for a single season at
the time. Wojciechowski was named to the RIC Invitational’s
All-Tournament Team. |

|
As a
sophomore in 2004, she played in 109 games in 28 matches. She had 97
kills (0.890/game), a .166 hitting percentage, 34 assists
(0.312/game), 51 service aces (0.468/game), 248 digs (2.275/game) and
nine blocks (0.083/game). |
|
|
|
Wojciechowski is a secondary education major with a concentration in
math and a 2000 graduate of North Kingstown High School. |
|
|
|
Junior
middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) was named First Team
All-Little East Conference for the second consecutive season. Miga
played in 126 games in 36 matches. She had 383 kills (3.04/game), a
RIC record .328 hitting percentage, five assists (0.04/game), 62
service aces (0.49/game), 69 digs (0.55/game) and 180 blocks
(1.43/game). She was named the Little East Conference’s Defensive
Player of the Week twice on the season. She is currently RIC’s
all-time leader in hitting percentage (.312) and blocks (432). Miga is
also just 46 kills away from teammate Kristy Nix’s RIC career kills
record. |

Junior
defensive specialist Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) played in
125 games in 36 matches. She had 14 kills (0.11/game), 14 assists
(0.11/game), 60 service aces (0.48/game) and 225 digs (2.04/game). |

|
|
Junior
outside hitter Julie Seitsinger (North Kingstown, RI) played in
23 games in 16 matches. She had four kills (0.17/game), four assists
(0.17/game), one service ace (0.04/game), eight digs (0.35/game) and
six blocks (0.26/game). |

Sophomore
outside hitter Brooke Bryant (Nashua, NH) played in 46 games in
24 matches. She had 57 kills (1.24/game), five assists (0.11/game),
two service aces (0.04/game), 36 digs (0.78/game) and four blocks
(0.09/game). |

middle hitter Madison Greene (Cranston, RI) played in 79 games
in 29 matches. She had 95 kills (1.20/game), five assists (0.06/game),
one service ace (0.01/game), 40 digs (0.51/game) and 34 blocks
(0.43/game). |

outside/middle hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) played in 122
games in 36 matches. She had 169 kills (1.39/game), 23 assists
(0.19/game), 37 digs (0.30/game) and 56 blocks (0.46/game). |

middle hitter Jillian Henry (Dartmouth, MA) played in 11 games
in ten matches. She had six kills (0.55/game) and four blocks
(0.36/game). |

setter Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) played in 128 games in 36
matches. She had 27 kills (0.21/game), a team-high 731 assists
(5.71/game), a team-high 73 service ace (0.57/game), 240 digs
(1.88/game) and one block (0.01/game). She is currently second
all-time at RIC in career assists. |

setter Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) played in 122 games in 34
matches. She had 11 kills (0.09/game), 522 assists (4.28/game), 47
service ace (0.39/game), 140 digs (1.15/game) and one block
(0.01/game). She is currently third all-time at RIC in career assists. |

right side/outside hitter Kristina Martin (Willington, CT)
played in ten games in seven matches. She had three kills (0.30/game),
one assist (0.10/game), three service aces (0.30/game) and ten digs
(1.00/game). |

right side/middle hitter Rachel Millen (Wakefield, RI) played
in 19 games in 16 matches. She had ten kills (0.53/game), one assist
(0.05/game), one service ace (0.05/game), six digs (0.32/game) and one
