Coach Bob Walsh’s team is currently 9-7 overall and 3-4 in the
Little East Conference. The Anchormen are currently tied with Southern
Maine for fifth place in the Little East. |

• RIC stopped
a three-game Little East Conference losing streak with an impressive,
75-67, win over first place Keene State on Saturday, Jan. 21. RIC,
which led by as many as 19 points during the game, held the lead the
entire contest. Senior guard Kevin Payette (Woonsocket, RI)
posted his second double-double of the season with 16 points and ten
rebounds, to go along with two assists and two steals. Junior guard
Kinsey Durgin (Greenwood, ME) led all scorers with 19 points, to
go along with six boards and four assists. Junior guard Kamari
Williams (Springfield, MA) had 14 points, including four
three-pointers, and freshman forward Kaseem Johnson (New Haven, CT)
grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. |

• Prior to the
win over Keene State, RIC had lost three of its previous four games.
The only win was a non-conference win at M.I.T., 80-67, on Thursday,
Jan. 12. The Anchormen had five players score in double figures in the
win, led by Durgin’s 19 and Johnson’s double-double with ten points
and ten rebounds. |

• Junior
forward John Weir (Danbury, CT) is tied for second in the
Little East with 21 blocked shots. Freshman guard Cameron Stewart
(Newport, RI) leads the LEC in three-point field goal percentage,
posting a .619 (13-21) mark. Durgin is tenth in the LEC in scoring and
third with 42 made three-pointers on the season. Payette and Johnson
are sixth and seventh, respectively in the LEC for rebounding average. |

Williams needs 61 points to become the 26th member of the
RIC Men’s Basketball 1,000 Point Club. |

•
CONFERENCE ACCOLADES: Johnson has been named the Little East
Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week twice this season
(11/21, 12/12). Payette (11/21), Williams (12/05), Durgin (12/12, 1/9,
1/23) have been named to the LEC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll on
the season. |
