Indoor Track & Field Update #1

RI--Head
Coach Kevin Jackson’s team has four meets under their belts
this season. RIC competed at the Tufts University Invitational on
Saturday, Jan. 21 and placed ninth (15 teams) with a score of 35.0.
Tufts won the meet with a team score of 146.50. |

• Senior
Manny Karngar (Providence,
RI)
placed first in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:33.70 at the Tufts
Invitational. A week earlier at the Wesleyan Invitational, Karngar
placed first in the 400 meters and third in the 200 meters with times
of 50.69 and 23.41, respectively. |

• Junior
Eric Lonergan (North
Kingstown, RI)
placed fourth in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:36.81 at the Tufts
Invitational. He placed third in the mile with a time of 4:32.85 at
the Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 14. |

• Junior
Dan Newman (Smithfield,
RI)
placed second
in the high jump with a leap of 1.87 meters at the Wesleyan
Invitational on Jan. 14. He placed second in the high jump with a leap
of 1.88 meters at the Tufts Invitational. Seniors Nick and
Rich Palazzo (Johnston,
RI)
placed fifth and eighth, respectively, with distances of 14.33 and
13.04 meters at the Tufts Invitational. |
