Wins Sixth Straight Behind Durgin’s 23 Points |

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College opened the second half with a 16-0 run and led by as
many as 33 points en route to a 85-58 win over Western Connecticut in
a battle of Little East Conference men’s basketball rivals. The
Anchormen have won six straight games, five of which have been
conference games. RIC is now 14-7 overall and 7-4 in the LEC. The
Colonials fall to 12-10 overall and 4-7 in conference play. |

RIC held the Colonials to 26
percent shooting and shut down the conference’s leading scorer, senior
guard Greg Cole (Terrytown,
NY). Cole, who was
averaging 21.6 points per game, was held to six points on 2-for-11
shooting. The Anchormen shot 52 percent from the field and had ten
players score at least one point. |

Junior guard Kinsey Durgin
(Greenwood, ME)
shot 9-for-13 from
the field in a 23-point, ten-rebound, four-assist and four-steal
performance. Freshman forward Kaseem Johnson (New
Haven, CT) had 15
points and eight boards, while junior guard Kamari Williams (Springfield,
MA) had 12 points,
two boards and two assists. Williams needs ten points to become the
26th member of the RIC Men’s Basketball 1,000 Point Club. |

host Southern Maine on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. The Colonials will
