College Wrestling Tri-Match

Bears Split Tri-Match with RIC & Trinity
 

Bridgewater, MA – The Bridgewater State College wreslting team wrapped up the dual meet portion of the schedule with a split of a tri-match with Rhode Island College and Trinity College.  The Bears dropped a 31-12 decision to Pilgrim League rival RIC before rebounding with a 27-24 victory over Trinity.

 BSC junior John Fralick (Woburn, MA) and sophomores James Quinlan (Methuen, MA) and Anthony D’Amico (Shrewsbury, MA) all went 2-0 on the afternoon for the Bears.  Both Fralick (174) and Quinlan (184) earned wins by decision versus RIC and then pinned their respective opponents in the match against Trinity.  D’Amico (197) picked up a pair of decision victories in his two matches. 

Sophomore heavyweight Tim Ferreira (Danbury, CT) went 1-1 with a 7-4 decision against Rhode Island College and a hard-fought 4-0 loss to top ranked heavyweight Mike Blair (Plymouth, NH) of Trinity.  The match featured the number one and number four ranked heavyweights in New England. Blair continues to show why he is ranked number one in New England and number three in the country as he remained undefeated on the season with a win by fall against RIC as well as the decision over Ferreira.  Blair is now a perfect 25-0 on the year.

Rhode Island College was the big winner in the tri-match as they swept their way to a pair of victories.  Along with the Pilgrim League win over Bridgewater, the Anchormen also defeated Trinity by a score of 30-18.  RIC junior 157-pounder Luis Feliz (Cranston, RI) won both of his matches by fall to highlight the sweep.

The Bears return to the mat next Saturday and Sunday as they compete in the NECCWA Championships hosted by Wesleyan University.
