Mike Bonora and Steve Goncalves
Earn All-New England Honors
at NECCWA Championships

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College sophomore Mike Bonora (Nutley, NJ) and freshman Steve Goncalves (Cumberland, RI) earned All-New England honors at the New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) Championships, hosted by Wesleyan on Feb. 18-19.

Bonora went 2-2 at the NECCWA Championships and placed fourth at 141 lbs. For the season, he posted a 16-3 record with 50 takedowns, three reversals and three pins. He is a psychology major and a 2003 graduate of Nutley High School.

Goncalves went 4-2 at the NECCWA Championships and placed fourth at 125 lbs. For the season, he posted a 16-10 record with 47 takedowns, nine reversals and five pins. He is a physical education major and a 2005 graduate of Cumberland High School.

Head Coach Jay Jones’ team placed 11^th (15 teams) at the NECCWA Championships with 30.5 points. The Anchormen finish the 2005-06 season with a 14-11 overall record, a 10-6 record against NECCWA competition and a 4-2 mark in the Pilgrim Wrestling League.
