RIC Men’s Basketball Selected For
ECAC Tournament
Anchormen Host Coast Guard on Wednesday Night
|

Providence, RI--Head
Coach Bob Walsh’s team has been selected to compete in the
upcoming Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III New
England Men’s Basketball Tournament. RIC is the fourth seed and will
host fifth-seeded Coast Guard in first round action on Wednesday, Mar.
1 at 7 p.m. The Championship Round will be played on Friday and
Saturday, Mar. 3-4. This is the second consecutive year the Anchormen
have been selected to participate in this tournament. RIC lost in the
Championship Game to
Wheaton in 2005.

Men’s Basketball Tournament seeds: 1. Keene State 2. M.I.T. 3.
Emmanuel 4. Rhode Island College 5. Coast Guard 6. Wheaton 7. Plymouth
State 8. Colby-Sawyer. |

The team is 17-9 overall and
was 9-5 in the Little East Conference during the regular season. RIC
has already played Coast Guard once this season, downing the Bears,
82-70, on Jan. 30. |

In the Little East Conference
Men’s Basketball Tournament, the third-seeded Anchormen defeated
sixth-seeded Western Connecticut at home, 63-58, in the first round.
RIC lost in the Semi-Finals of the Tournament to second-seeded UMass
Boston, 76-70. The game was hosted by top-seeded Keene State, who fell
to UMass Boston in the title contest. |
