Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College junior Megan Joseph (Hope, RI) was named the
Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Specialist of the
Week, while freshman Breanna Moroney (Metuchen, NJ) was named
the Freshman of the Week, for their performances at the ECAC Women’s
Gymnastics Championships on Mar. 11 at Ursinus. |

Both
gymnasts qualified to compete and will be making their first
appearances at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA)
Championships as specialists. SUNY Brockport will host the 2006 NCGA
Championships on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 24-25. |

Joseph has
qualified for the NCGAs as a beam specialist from the East Region. She
is averaging a score of 8.814 on that event and posted a season-high
mark of 9.450 at the ECAC Championships, hosted by Ursinus on Mar. 11.
It was the sixth-highest score on that event at the meet. In other
action this winter, Joseph is averaging scores of 8.555 on vault and
8.875 on floor. She posted a season-high mark of 9.075 on vault vs.
the University of Rhode Island on Feb. 2 and a score of 9.400 on floor
vs. M.I.T. on Feb. 19. |

Moroney has
qualified for the NCGAs as an all-around specialist from the East
Region. She is averaging scores of 9.078 on vault, 8.314 on bars,
8.386 on beam, 9.006 on floor and 34.783 in the all-around. She posted
season-high marks of 8.825 on bars, 9.075 on beam, 9.500 on floor and
36.400 in the all-around at the ECAC Championships, hosted by Ursinus
on Mar. 11. Moroney’s score on floor was the sixth-highest at the
meet, while her floor score ranked ninth. She posted a season-high
score of 9.300 on vault at a tri-meet, hosted by Bridgeport on Feb.
