2005-06 Women’s Basketball Season Summary

Overall; 4-10 (sixth place) in the Little East Conference

Providence, RI--Head
Coach Spencer Manning’s team was 12-14 overall and 4-10
(sixth place) in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen were
eliminated in the first round of the 2006 Little East Conference
Women’s Basketball Tournament, 69-48, by third-seeded Eastern
Connecticut. |

|
Senior
guard Jamie Angell (Cranston, RI) concludes her two-year career
at RIC having played 53 career games, starting 44 of them. She
transferred from the Community College of Rhode Island to RIC her
junior season, and totaled 727 career points, 139 rebounds, 174
assists and 71 steals as an Anchorwoman. She averaged 13.7 points, 2.6
rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game for her RIC career. |

|
As a senior
in 2005-06, she was named Second Team All-Little East Conference. She
played in 26 games, starting 23 of them. She averaged a team-high 12.9
points, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals, to go along with 3.0 rebounds per
game. Angell registered season-highs of 31 points vs. Eastern
Connecticut on Feb. 4, ten rebounds vs. Western Connecticut on Jan.
17, seven assists vs. Connecticut College on Dec. 8, two blocks vs.
Plymouth State on Jan. 28 and four steals three times. Angell was
named LEC Player of the Week once on the season. Angell led the Little
East in three-point shooting percentage with a .400 mark. She was
fourth in scoring, eighth in assists and fifth in three-pointers made,
averaging 1.69 per game. |

|
As a junior
in 2004-05, Angell was named First Team All-Little East Conference and
the Rhode Island Basketball Media Div. III Women’s Basketball Player
of the Year. She played in 27 games, starting 21 of them. She averaged
a team-high 14.5 points and 3.5 assists per game to go along with 2.2
rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. Angell registered season-highs of 29
points vs. Eastern Connecticut, seven rebounds vs. Keene State, ten
assists vs. Wellesley and eight steals vs. Pine Manor. Angell led the
Little East in scoring, as well as free throw percentage with a .813
mark. |

|
She played
at the Community College of Rhode Island as a sophomore in 2003-04 and
as a freshman in 2002-03. Angell is tenth all-time at CCRI in career
scoring, is second in career steals and third in career assists. |
|
|
|
She is a
psychology major with a minor in sociology and is a 2002 graduate of
La Salle Academy. |
|
|
|
Junior
forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) was named Second Team
All-Little East Conference for the third consecutive season. Geisler
played in 26 games, starting 25 of them. She averaged a team-high 10.6
rebounds per game to go along with 11.2 points, 1.0 steals and 1.0
assists per game. Geisler registered season-highs of 18 points twice,
16 rebounds three times, five assists vs. Southern Maine on Feb. 11,
two blocks twice and three steals on several occasions. She was named
the Little East Conference's Player of the Week once this season. She
led the Little East in defensive and total rebounds per game. Geisler
was also tenth in the LEC in scoring. Her 276 rebounds this season
rank as the sixth-most boards grabbed by an Anchorwomen in program
history. Geisler’s 735 career rebounds currently ranks her second
all-time at RIC, trailing the top spot by 366. |

|
Junior
guard Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) played in 18 games,
starting eight of them. She averaged 1.7 points and 1.1 rebounds per
game. Nix registered season-highs of seven points, four assists and
two steals vs. Eastern Connecticut on Jan. 7, five rebounds vs.
Eastern Connecticut on Feb. 4, one block vs. Mitchell on Jan. 31. |

Junior
guard Brittany Rosen (Derry, NH) played in 24 games, starting
four of them. She averaged 3.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists and
1.1 steals per game. Rosen registered season-highs of 12 points vs.
Connecticut College on Dec. 8, nine rebounds vs. Keene State on Jan.
21, three assists twice, three blocks vs. Plymouth State on Dec. 10
and three steals four times. |

Sophomore
guard Sarah Coughlin (North Attleboro, MA) played in 26 games,
starting three of them. She averaged 3.0 points, 1.6 rebounds, 2.1
assists and 1.2 steals per game. She registered season-highs of 15
points and six steals vs. Mitchell on Jan. 31, seven rebounds vs.
Johnson & Wales on Dec. 6, seven assists vs. Pine Manor on Jan. 12 and
one block twice. |

Sophomore
forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) played in 26
games, starting four of them. She averaged 7.5 points, 4.1 rebounds
and 0.9 steals per game. Danieli registered season-highs of 17 points
vs. Westfield State on Nov. 29, ten rebounds vs. Bridgewater State on
Nov. 22, three assists vs. Plymouth State on Dec. 10, one block twice
and five steals vs. Pine Manor on Jan. 12. Danieli was fourth in the
Little East in field goal percentage with a .503 (83-165) mark. |

|
Sophomore
forward Colleen Feeney (Providence, RI) was named to the Little
East Conference All-Defensive Team. She played in 25 games, starting
all of them. She was second on the team averaging 11.8 points and 8.2
rebounds per game while leading the squad with 1.3 blocks per game.
She also averaged 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game. She registered
season-highs of 20 points vs. UMass Boston on Jan. 14, 15 rebounds vs.
Wesleyan on Jan. 5, four assists three times, three blocks on several
occasions and four steals twice. Feeney was sixth in the Little East
in scoring, second in blocks and third in free throw percentage with a
.761 (86-113) mark. |

Sophomore
forward Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) played in 18 games. She
averaged 1.1 points and 1.1 rebounds per game. Heard registered
season-highs of 12 points, six rebounds, two blocks and four steals
vs. Pine Manor on Jan. 12 and one assist vs. Southern Maine on Feb.
11. |

Sophomore
forward Jess Shiel (Warwick, RI) played in eight games. She
averaged 0.3 rebounds per game. She registered season-highs of one
rebound twice, one assist and one block vs. Pine Manor on Jan. 12 and
one steal twice. |

|
|
Freshman
guard Maura Butts (Spencer, MA) played in 23 games. She
averaged 1.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. Butts registered
season-highs of eight points and seven rebounds vs. Southern Maine on
Feb. 11, two rebounds twice, one block vs. Wesleyan on Jan. 5 and two
steals three times. |

Freshman
guard LeeAnne Ketchen (Spencer, MA) played in 26 games,
starting 19 of them. She averaged 3.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.4
assists per game. Ketchen registered season-highs of 13 points vs.
UMass Dartmouth on Feb. 14, seven rebounds vs. Wellesley Feb. 9, seven
assists and five steals vs. UMass Boston on Jan. 14 and one block on
several occasions. |

Freshman
guard Tyla Martin (Cumberland, RI) was named to the Little East
Conference All-Rookie Team. She played in 26 games, starting 19 of
them. She averaged 5.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0
steals per game. Martin registered season-highs of 18 points and seven
rebounds vs. UMass Boston on Feb. 18, three assists three times, two
blocks vs. Skidmore on Nov. 19 and three steals twice. |
