2005-06 Women’s Gymnastics Season Summary

Providence,
RI—Head
Coach Bob Nannig's team finished the 2005-06 season with a 0-16
overall record and a 0-9 mark against ECAC Div. III competition. The
team placed seventh (eight teams) at the Eastern College Athletic
Conference (ECAC) Div. III Championships with a score of 178.925 on
Mar. 11. The team had three gymnasts qualify for the National
Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, which were
hosted by SUNY Brockport on Mar. 24-25. |

Senior
co-captain Cristy Pforr (Pembroke,
MA)
competed as a
beam and floor specialist, averaging scores of 8.430 and 7.900,
respectively, on those events. She posted season-high marks of 9.100
on beam and 8.000 on floor at the West Chester quad meet on Jan. 14. |

|
|
As a junior in
2004-05, she averaged scores of 8.519 on vault, 8.600 on beam and
8.775 on floor. She posted a season-high mark of 8.650 on vault at the
SUNY Brockport meet. She posted a career-high mark of 9.250 on beam
against M.I.T. Pforr posted a season-high mark of 9.175 on floor at
the M.I.T. quad meet. |

As a sophomore
in 2003-04, Pforr averaged scores of 8.490 on vault, 8.478 on beam and
8.772 on floor. Pforr posted a career-high mark of 8.675 on vault at
Southern Connecticut, as well as a season-high score of 9.150 on beam
and a career-high mark of 9.200 on floor vs. Brown/Bridgeport. |

As a freshman
in 2002-03, she averaged scores of 8.617 on vault, 7.133 on bars and
8.588 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 8.650 on vault and
7.400 on bars at the ECAC Championships; as well as a score of 8.900
on floor vs. Springfield. |

|
|
Pforr is an
early childhood education major with a concentration in special
education and a 2002 graduate of Silver Lake High School. |
|
|
|
Senior
co-captain Danielle Soucy (Gloucester, MA) competed on vault
and bars in every meet for the Anchorwomen in 2005-06. She averaged
scores of 8.928 on vault and 8.403 on the bars. She posted a
career-high mark of 9.175 on vault and a season-high mark of 8.950 on
bars vs. the University of Rhode Island on Feb. 2. |

As a sophomore
in 2004-05, she averaged scores of 8.766 on vault and 8.178 on bars.
Soucy recorded a season-high score of 9.100 on vault vs. Southern
Connecticut. She posted a career-high mark of 9.000 on bars at the
West Chester meet on Feb. 12. |

|
|
As a freshman
in 2003-04, Soucy injured her knee in the pre-season and missed the
entire season. Prior to attending RIC, Soucy spent 2002-03 at the
University of Rhode Island. |

|
|
Soucy is an
English major and a 2002 graduate of Gloucester High School. |
|
|
|
Senior
Courtney Sylvia (Seekonk, MA), a reserve on the team for the past
three seasons, is graduating early and forgoing her final year of
eligibility. |
|
|
|
Sylvia is a
communications major and a 2003 graduate of Seekonk High School. |
|
|
|
Junior
Melissa Jones (Cranston, RI) was a vault specialist who averaged
scores of 8.654 on that event. She posted a season-high mark of 9.100
on vault vs. Southern Connecticut on Jan. 21. |

|
|
Junior
Megan Joseph (Hope, RI) qualified to the 2006 NCGA Championships
as a beam specialist from the East Region. It was Joseph’s first trip
to the NCGAs. She tied for 11th place on beam with a score
of 9.425 after the first day (Mar. 24) of competition. The top 14 on
each event advanced to the second day of competition. Joseph posted a
score of 8.475 (13th) during day two of competition. |

For the
season, Joseph averaged scores of 8.554 on vault, 8.839 on beam and
8.875 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 9.075 on vault vs. the
University of Rhode Island on Feb. 2 and 9.400 on floor vs. M.I.T. on
Feb. 19. Her score of 9.450 on beam at the ECAC Championships on Mar.
11 was a career-high mark for her and tied for the fifth-best score in
school history on that event. |

|
Junior
Kristina Lemanis (Smithtown, NY) competed as a bars specialist and
averaged a score of 7.678 on that event. She posted a season-high mark
of 8.400 on bars at the M.I.T. tri-meet on Feb. 11. |

|
|
Junior
Cassie O’Blenis (Warren, RI) was a reserve on the team. |

|
|
Junior
Hannah Scott (Deep River, CT) qualified to the 2006 NCGA
Championships as an all-around specialist from the East Region. It was
Scott’s first trip to the NCGAs. She posted scores of 8.500 on vault
(55th), 8.350 on bars (37th tie), 8.300 on beam
(51st), 9.150 on floor (41st tie) and 34.300 in
the all-around (23rd). |

For the
season, Scott averaged scores of 8.840 on vault, 8.410 on bars, 8.543
on beam, 8.708 on floor and 34.500 in the all-around. She posted
season-high marks of 9.050 on vault twice, 8.875 on bars and 35.525 in
the all-around at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 11, 9.300 on beam vs.
M.I.T. on Feb. 19 and 9.325 on floor at the Ithaca tri-meet on Mar. 4. |

Sophomore
Melissa Demirjian (Warwick, RI) averaged scores of 7.625 on bars
and 8.513 on floor. She recorded season-high marks of 7.850 on bars
and 8.750 on floor vs. Southern Connecticut on Jan. 21. |

Kaitlyn Kelleher (Plymouth, MA) was a reserve on the team. |

Caitlyn Owens (Carmel, NY) averaged scores of 7.235 on bars, 8.186
on beam and 8.817 on floor. She posted a season-high mark of 8.150 on
bars vs. M.I.T. on Feb. 19. Owens posted a season-high score of 9.100
on beam at the M.I.T. tri-meet on Feb. 11. She recorded a season-high
mark of 9.225 on floor at the Ithaca tri-meet on Mar. 3. |

Sophomore
Nicole Tomaselli (Cranston, RI) was primarily a bars specialist,
averaging a score of 6.530 on that event for the season. Tomaselli
competed once in the all-around at the West Chester quad-meet on Jan.
14, recording scores of 8.450 on vault, 5.350 on bars, 7.525 on beam,
7.850 on floor and 29.175 in the all-around. She posted a season-high
mark of 7.900 on bars vs. the University of Rhode Island on Feb. 2. |

Freshman
Taylor Anderson (Newport Coast, CA) averaged scores of 8.886 on
vault, 8.875 on beam and 8.425 on floor. She posted season-high marks
of 9.100 on vault and 9.325 on beam at the Bridgeport tri-meet on Feb.
15. Anderson recorded a season-high mark of 8.800 on floor at the
Ithaca tri-meet on Mar. 3. |

Freshman
Debbie Granara (Malden, MA) averaged scores of 9.040 on vault,
8.196 on beam and 8.810 on floor. In a dual meet vs. the University of
Rhode Island on Feb. 2, Granara posted a score of 9.600 on the vault,
which was a team-high score for the season and tied for the third-best
mark in school history on that event. She posted a season-high mark of
8.400 on beam twice and a season-high score of 9.250 on floor vs.
M.I.T. on Feb. 19. |

Freshman
Breanna Moroney (Metuchen, NJ) qualified to the 2006 NCGA
Championships as an all-around specialist from the East Region. It was
Moroney’s first trip to the NCGAs. She posted scores of 9.050 on vault
(43rd tie), 8.075 on bars (44th), 9.050 on beam
(30th tie), 9.000 on floor (46th) and 35.175 in
the all-around (22nd). |

For the
season, Moroney averaged scores of 9.075 on vault, 8.290 on bars,
8.453 on beam, 9.005 on floor and 34.823 in the all-around. She
recorded a season-high mark of 9.300 on vault at the Bridgeport
tri-meet on Feb. 15. At the ECAC Championships on Mar. 11, Moroney
posted season-high marks of 8.825 on bars, 9.075 on beam, 9.500 on
floor and 36.400 in the all-around. |

Freshman
Rachel Powers (South Burlington, VT) averaged scores of 8.113 on
bars, 8.795 on beam and 8.800 on floor. Powers competed once in the
all-around at the West Chester quad-meet on Jan. 14, recording scores
of 8.450 on vault, 7.700 on bars, 8.475 on beam, 8.650 on floor and
33.275 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 8.625 on
bars at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 11, 9.125 on beam vs. M.I.T. on
Feb. 19 and 9.000 on floor vs. Southern Connecticut on Jan. 21. |
