Rhode
Island College exploded out of the gates, registering two lightning
quick goals. First-year midfielder Christina Tavana (Middletown,
CT) opened the scoring in just the third minute, as she finished a
feed from junior forward Brittney Godbout (Cranston, RI). It
was Tavana’s second goal of the season, while Godbout was credited
with her fifth helper. |

The
Anchorwomen continued to apply the offensive pressure, registering the
eventual game-winning goal in the 12th minute off the right foot of
junior striker Gina Calenda (Warren, RI). Calenda is tied for
second on the team in scoring (11 points) and goals (four). |

The hosts
entered the scoring column in the 74th minute. The goal snapped Rhode
Island College’s scoreless streak of 187 minutes and five seconds.
Furthermore, the Anchorwomen have featured a stifling defense over the
past four games, limiting the opposition to just four goals, including
a shutout victory over Southern Maine in the Little East Conference
opener on Sept. 16. |

Sophomore
goaltender Krissie Pyzynski (Bristol, CT) turned back three
shots to earn her sixth victory of the season, while Jordanna
Budetti made four saves in just one half. Budetti gave way to
Jen Garside at the start of the second stanza, and she also
stopped four Anchorwomen offerings. |
