ANCHORWOMEN BLAST BEACONS, 9-0
RIC Outshoots UMass Boston, 60-5, to Earn Fifth Straight Win

Providence, RI—Ten
different Rhode Island College players registered at least one point
in the Anchorwomen’s, 9-0, shutout victory over UMass Boston on
Saturday afternoon. RIC, which wins its fifth consecutive game,
improves to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the Little East Conference. The
Beacons suffer their third consecutive loss and fall to 2-5 overall
and remain winless in the LEC with a 0-2 mark. All five UMass Boston
losses this season have come by way of shutout. |

Rhode
Island College junior forward Brittney Godbout (Cranston, RI),
last week’s Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week,
scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 29th
minute. She added a second tally three minutes later in the 32nd
minute |

The
offensive barrage continued all afternoon as Rhode Island College
outshot the Beacons, 60-5. UMass Boston freshman goalkeeper Jessica
Penta (Revere, MA) made 21 saves in a losing effort. |

The
Anchorwomen were led offensively by Godbout and senior forward
Erika Haaland (North Dartmouth, MA) with two goals apiece. Junior
forward Gina Calenda (Warren, RI), senior midfielder Caitlin
Gavin (Portsmouth, RI), junior forward Lindsay Laurie (Warwick,
RI), freshman midfielder Jessie Duquette (Chepachet, RI)
and junior midfielder Abby Hummel (North Kingstown, RI) rounded
out the RIC offensive output. Duquette’s goal was her first as a
collegian. |

RIC
sophomore goalkeeper Krissie Pyzynski (Bristol, CT) earned the
win, making two saves, while playing the first half. Freshman
goalkeeper Kendra DeGiulio (Warwick, RI) made her first
collegiate appearance in net during the second half and made one save.
RIC earned its third win by way of shutout on the season. |
