Meg Funk Named Little East Women’s Tennis
 Player of the Week

 

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College sophomore Meg Funk (Oakdale, CT) was named the Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.

 

Funk helped RIC to a 2-0 week by going undefeated at both number one singles (2-0) and number one doubles (2-0). She defeated Kendra Sloat from Western Connecticut (6-4, 4-6, 7-2) at number one singles and teamed with junior Sasha Doonan (Pawtucket, RI) to defeat Sloat and Jenna Kosiba at number one doubles (8-1) in the Anchorwomen’s, 7-2, victory over the Colonials on Sept. 19. She defeated Kelly Maloney (6-1, 6-0) at number one singles and teamed with Doonan to defeat Maloney and Heidi Graceffa (8-5) at number one doubles in RIC’s, 9-0, win over Southern Maine on Sept. 23. Funk is 4-2 at number one singles and 5-3 at number one doubles on the season.

 

Head Coach Kelly Chartier’s team is 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the Little East Conference.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host Johnson & Wales on Tuesday, Sept. 26, play at Endicott on Thursday, Sept. 28 and wrap up the week at home against Little East Conference rival Bridgewater State on Saturday, Sept. 30.
