Chason’s Goal in the 69th
Minute Lifts Jumbos Past Anchormen

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College suffered its fourth loss in its past five contests as
Tufts senior forward Mattia Chason (Rome, ITALY) scored in the
69th minute to snap a 2-2 deadlock and give the Jumbos the
victory. Chason broke in from the right side and buried a junior
forward Dan Jozwiak (Boulder, CO) touch pass to beat Rhode
Island College junior goalkeeper Jadon Neves (Warren, RI). |

The
Anchormen played a lackluster first half as goals by sophomore
midfielder Peter DeGregorio (Whately, MA) and senior forward
Ben Castellot (Newton, MA) in the 14th and 35th
minute, respectively, put RIC behind the eight-ball. |

|
|
An inspired
Rhode Island College squad took the field in the second half and tied
the game within nine minutes. Junior forward Jimmy Hernandez
(Providence, RI) converted a brilliant pass from sophomore
midfielder Derek Arsenault (Greenville, RI), in the 49th
minute. Junior midfielder Julian Montoya (North Providence, RI)
broke in just over five minutes later and was taken out on a hard
slide tackle by Tufts freshman goalkeeper Pat Tonelli (Andover, MA).
Tonelli was tabbed for the foul and Hernandez converted the
ensuing penalty kick to tie the game. |

The
Anchormen outshot the Jumbos, 11-7, in the second half and, 17-16, for
the game. |

|
|
Neves, who
made five saves, sees his record fall to 2-3 on the season. Tonelli
also made five saves and raises his record to 3-4-1. |

|
Rhode
Island College falls to 4-4 on the season, while the Jumbos, who won
their third straight contest, improve to 3-4-1. |

In upcoming
action, RIC will host Montclair on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. |
