PLYMOUTH STATE DOWNS RIC, 1-0
Anchorwomen Suffer Third Straight LEC Loss
|
|
Plymouth,
NH—Plymouth
State freshman Brittany Phelps (Bow, NH) scored in the seventh
minute and that was all the Panthers needed to outlast Rhode Island
College, 1-0, in a Little East Conference women’s soccer match. It was
a low scoring affair, which saw both clubs combine for only 12 shots.
The Panthers held a two-to-one advantage in that category, 8-4. |

|
The
Anchorwomen fall to 12-5 overall and 3-3 in the Little East
Conference. RIC, which opened the season with an 11-1 mark and a 3-0
record in LEC play, has since gone 1-4 and 0-3 in conference action. |

|
|
Phelps
finished off a nice crossing pass from classmate Stacy DiSabato
(Manchester, NH) in the game’s only tally. Panther junior
goalkeeper Ashley Riberdy (Manchester, NH) made three saves to
earn her third shutout of the season. |
|
|
|
Rhode
Island College sophomore goalkeeper Krissie Pyzynski (Bristol, CT)
made six saves in a losing effort. |
|
|
|
In upcoming
action, RIC will host Salem State on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 4 p.m. It
will be Senior Day as Rhode Island College will honor forward Erika
Haaland (North Dartmouth, MA) and midfielder Caitlin Gavin
(Portsmouth, RI) prior to the game. |
