Anchormen Clinch Third Seed
In Upcoming LEC Tournament

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College and Eastern Connecticut battled to a 0-0 double
overtime tie in the regular season finale for both clubs. The
Anchormen clinched the third seed in the upcoming four-team Little
East Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament. Rhode Island College’s
opponent will either be Keene State or Plymouth State depending on
KSC’s game with UMass Boston tomorrow night. |

The
Warriors, who have now posted ten shutouts on the season, are 7-5-6 overall and 2-1-4 in the Little East. The Anchormen
remain winless in overtime games this fall (0-2-1), as they are 10-5-1
overall and 4-2-1 in the conference. |

Rhode
Island College outshot the Warriors, 27-15, but Warrior sophomore
goalkeeper Jay Barney (Mansfield, CT) was spectacular in net. He
made 12 saves as his record improves to 6-4-5 to go along with five
shutouts. Rhode Island College junior netminder Jadon Neves
(Warren, RI) made four saves as his record now stands at 8-4-1
with five shutouts. |

In upcoming
action, the 2006 Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament begins
on Wednesday, Nov. 1 with the top two seeds hosting the games. |
