Rhode Island
College just returned from its annual trip to the Rebel Spring Games
in Kissimmee, Fla. with an overall record of 6-2. The Anchorwomen
posted victories over two nationally ranked teams, Ramapo College and
Rowan University. On March 11, Rhode Island College edged the
previously seventh-ranked Roadrunners, 2-1. Freshman outfielders
Jamie Mastrocola (Everett, MA) and Kelsey Souza (Braintree, MA)
each knocked in a run, while senior pitcher Nicole Riley (North
Providence, RI) threw a complete game without surrendering an
earned run and logged five strikeouts. Two days later, the Anchorwomen
shut out the 20th-ranked Profs, 4-0. Riley continued to excel on the
mound, registering seven scoreless innings and limiting Rowan to just
one hit, while striking out four. Junior first baseman Christie
Lotti (Waterford, CT) made the most of her keen eye, scoring a
pair of runs on two walks. |
