Horsman, Nyzio & Fleming Earn First
Place
Finishes at Swanson Invitational |

Middletown, CT—The
Rhode Island College women’s outdoor track and field
team took part in the Elmer J. Swanson Invitational, hosted by
Wesleyan University on Saturday, Apr. 14. It was an individual meet
with no team scoring. |

Sophomore
Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) placed first in the hammer
with a throw of 41.53 meters. |
|
|
|
Sophomore
Ashley Nyzio (Pawtucket, RI) placed first in the javelin with a
distance of 36.88 meters. |
|
|
|
Sophomore
Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) placed first in the 800 meters
with a time of 2:25.24.She also placed third in the high jump (1.55
meters) and second in the long jump (4.70 meters). |

|
Freshman
Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) placed second in the shot,
fourth in the hammer and fourth in the discus with efforts of 10.77,
35.51 and 29.96 meters, respectively. |

Freshman
Brooke Iby (Dracut, MA) placed second in the triple jump with a
leap of 9.49 meters. She was also 10th in the 100 meters
with a time of 14.09 and seventh in the long jump at 4.35 meters. |

Freshman
Elizabeth Ann Glunt (Altoona, PA) was fourth in the long jump
at 4.47 meters, while also placing 18th and 17th
in the 100 and 200 meters with times of 14.65 and 29.61, respectively. |

In
upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Silfen
Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday, Apr. 21. |
