Dan Newman Earns All-New England Honors
in Men’s Outdoor Track & Field

Providence, RI— The Rhode Island College men’s outdoor track and field team competed at the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Springfield College on Friday and Saturday, May 4-5. The Anchormen placed 24 (26 Teams) with 5.0 Points.

Senior Dan Newman (Smithfield, RI) earned All-New England honors in the high jump, placing fourth at 1.92 meters. He also placed ninth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.79.

Freshman Max Willett (Portsmouth, RI) placed 14^th in long jump at 6.19 meters,

Senior Rich Palazzo (Johnston, RI) placed ninth in the hammer at 48.94 meters.

Junior Mike Van Gieson (Foster, RI) placed 10^th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.85.

Senior Eric Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI) placed 10^th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:00.49.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Open Championships, hosted by Dartmouth on Friday and Saturday, May 11-12.
