Kayla
Fleming and Ashley Nyzio Qualify for
NCAA
Div. III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field
Championships

Providence,
RI—Rhode
Island College sophomores Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) and
Ashley Nyzio (Pawtucket, RI) have qualified for the NCAA Div.
III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the high jump and
javelin, respectively. The pair will represent RIC at the tourney,
which is hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Thursday and Friday, May
24-25. |

Fleming, the
team MVP, has
earned All-New England honors in the high jump, placing fourth with
a leap of 1.56 meters at the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 5.
Fleming was the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Champion in
the high jump with a leap of 1.65 meters at the Alliance
Championships on Apr. 28. She took fifth place in the high jump with
a 1.53-meter effort at the Last Chance Qualifier meet, hosted by
M.I.T. on Friday, May 18. |

Nyzio
earned All-New England
honors in the javelin, placing fourth with a 36.74-meter effort at
the N.E. Div. III Championships on May 5. She earned All-Little East
Conference/MASCAC honors in the javelin, placing second with a
38.12-meter effort at the Alliance Championships on Apr. 28. She
placed third in the javelin with a 34.79-meter effort at the Last
Chance Qualifier meet, hosted by M.I.T. on Friday, May 18. |

In other
news, freshman Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) placed first
in the shot, fourth in the discus and eighth in the hammer with
efforts of 8.76, 25.35 and 41.01 meters, respectively,
at the Last Chance
Qualifier meet, hosted by M.I.T. on Friday, May 18. |
