Rhode Island College Men’s
Basketball is Top Pick in Little East Coaches’ Preseason Poll
|

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College edged out UMass Boston by one point for the top spot in
the 2006-07 Little East Conference Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Preseason
Poll. The Anchormen, who were also last season’s preseason top pick,
earned four of seven first place votes for a total of 45 points. |

Head
Coach Bob Walsh’s team was 19-10 overall and 9-5 (third place)
in the Little East a year ago. The Anchormen return seven
upperclassmen, including five seniors, from last year’s squad that
made it to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England
Basketball Championship Finals. |

The
Anchormen, who defeated Div. I Iona, 81-72, in an exhibition game on
Nov. 3, open the 2006-07 season at the Tufts University Tip-Off
Tournament vs. Endicott on Friday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. |

Poll (The number in parentheses is the amount of first place votes):
1. Rhode Island College, 45 (4); 2. UMass Boston, 44 (3); 3. Keene
State (38); 4. UMass Dartmouth, 33; 5. Eastern Connecticut (21); 6.
Plymouth State and Southern Maine (15); 8. Western Connecticut (14).
