Kinsey Durgin Named Little East Conference
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College senior guard Kinsey Durgin (Greenwood, ME) was named the Little East Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Durgin led the Anchormen to a 2-0 week, which included clinching the 2007 LEC Regular Season Championship in a 90-72 win at UMass Boston on Saturday, Feb. 17.

Durgin scored 10 of his 13 points in the second stanza to lead the Anchormen past the Beacons in the regular season finale. He knocked down 4-of-7 attempts from the floor, including two triples, while also recording seven rebounds, four assists and a steal. The Anchormen won the regular season title outright for the first time, earning the most victories inside the conference circuit in the program's history (12).

Three days earlier, Durgin registered 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in his final regular season home game in an 87-77 win over UMass Dartmouth on Feb. 13. He ranks among the conference leaders in free throw percentage (3rd, .811), 3-pointers made (4th, 2.42), scoring (7th, 14.4 ppg) and assists (8th, 2.96 apg).     

Rhode Island College is 21-3 overall and 12-2 in league play. In upcoming action, top-seeded Rhode Island College will host eighth-seeded Southern Maine on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at The Murray Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. If the Anchormen win the game, they will host the Little East Conference semifinals and finals, for the first time in school history, on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23 and 24.
