Kinsey Durgin Named Little East Conference
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week |
|
Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College senior guard Kinsey Durgin (Greenwood, ME) was
named the Little East Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the
Week. Durgin led the Anchormen to a 2-0 week, which included
clinching the 2007 LEC Regular Season Championship in a 90-72 win at
UMass Boston on Saturday, Feb. 17. |

Durgin scored 10
of his 13 points in the second stanza to lead the Anchormen past the
Beacons in the regular season finale. He knocked down 4-of-7
attempts from the floor, including two triples, while also recording
seven rebounds, four assists and a steal. The Anchormen won the
regular season title outright for the first time, earning the most
victories inside the conference circuit in the program's history
(12). |

Three days
earlier, Durgin registered 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists
and two steals in his final regular season home game in an 87-77 win
over UMass Dartmouth on Feb. 13. He ranks among the conference
leaders in free throw percentage (3rd, .811), 3-pointers made (4th,
2.42), scoring (7th, 14.4 ppg) and assists (8th, 2.96 apg).

Rhode Island College is 21-3 overall and 12-2 in league play. In
upcoming action, top-seeded Rhode Island College will host
eighth-seeded Southern Maine on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at The Murray
Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. If the Anchormen win the
game, they will host the Little East Conference semifinals and
finals, for the first time in school history, on Friday and
Saturday, Feb. 23 and 24. |
