Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball
Earns ECAC Tournament Berth |

RI—
The Rhode Island College women’s basketball team earned a berth in
the Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Div. III Women’s
Basketball Tournament. The Anchorwomen are making their first
appearance in the eight-team field for the first time since the
1997-98 cagers advanced to the semifinal round. |

Rhode Island
College (16-11) earned the eighth seed and will travel to top-seeded
Colby Sawyer College (22-5) at 7 pm. on Feb. 28. Ticket prices will
be $4 for general admission and $2 for students. |

|
|
In other ECAC
tourney action, second-seeded WPI will host seventh-seeded Nichols,
third-seeded Endicott will host sixth-seeded Castleton State and
fourth-seeded Wheaton will host fifth-seeded Suffolk. |

|
Under the
direction of Head Coach Spencer Manning, the Anchorwomen
registered 16 victories for the second time in the past four
seasons. Rhode Island College earned the fourth seed in the 2007
Little East Conference Tournament with a league mark of 8-6. The
Anchorwomen were edged by fifth-seed Eastern Connecticut State
University, 67-57, in the opening round of the Little East
Tournament on Feb. 20. |

Junior forward
Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) and senior forward
Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) lead the Rhode Island College
attack with 12.3 and 12.2 points-per-game averages, respectively.
Geisler also leads the team in rebounding (10.3 rpg) and blocks
(17), while junior guard Sarah Coughlin (North Attleboro, MA)
has posted a team-high 120 assists and 68 steals. |
