ANCHORWOMEN FALL TO TOURNEY HOSTS
|
|
Springfield, MA—The
Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team dropped their second
match of the 2007 Springfield College Invitational, falling, 3-0, to
the hosts on Saturday afternoon. After keeping within striking
distance of the Pride through the first two games, Springfield
turned on the jets in game three with a decisive, 30-19, win. |

The
Anchorwomen totaled just 26 kills in the loss, led by senior middle
blocker Kimiyo Garcia (Riverside, RI) and senior hitter
Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) who each logged six on the day.
Sophomore outside hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) and
freshman libero Mary Kate Winter (Narragansett, RI) each
registered a team-high 10 digs. Heard posted four blocks, while
senior setter Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) handed out a RIC-best
19 assists. |

court later this afternoon to face the University of New England in
the club’s final match of the weekend. |
