CARDINALS SPOIL RIC’S HOME OPENER

Wesleyan University upped its record to 5-1 in a 3-1 victory over
Rhode Island College in collegiate women’s volleyball action at The
Murray Center on Tuesday evening. The Anchorwomen, who came into the
match having won five of their last six, were dominated in games
three and four, falling, 30-18, in both frames. RIC falls to 7-5 on
the season. |

Rhode Island
College was led offensively by senior middle blocker Kimiyo
Garcia (Riverside, RI) who posted 15 kills, seven digs and five
blocks. Senior hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) logged 12
kills and three blocks. Senior setter Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT)
led the team with 14 digs, while handing 15 assists. Senior setter
Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) handed out a team-high 16 assists. |
